About how long does it take you? If it takes over an hour, then perhaps you could take some medication to help or try learning meditation.
How do you feel when you are trying to sleep? Stressed? Too much on your mind? Can't get comfortable?
There is an entire category of medication for insomnia problems, what to take depends on where you live and your personal biology (how old are you?).
Perhaps try some over-the-counter sleeping pills from your pharmacy?

I'm 17 and i usually think alot before sleep. Too much is on my mind i guess. Any thing for this specific problem?
A heated waterbed works, for me atleast
Maybe you're too excited about having a lucid dream that you goto sleep too early? Or can't fall asleep because you are thinking too much.
If not, I found turning music on lightly, so that you can hardly make out the words but hear the instrumentals fairly well, puts me to sleep real nice. I dunno maybe its just me, give it a try.
Usually warm milk and a very very soft blanket on the floor and a pillow fluffed to perfection. Then again, this would put anyone to sleep quickly. Just try talking yourself to sleep. I know it sounds weird, but it really does work. You'll probably feel kinda awkward :? talking to yourself in the dark, but it'll put you to sleep (and usually give you some really vivid dreams).
Try it, it'll work. I guarantee it!
I'll try it, but talking to myself might be weird. Anything is worth a try. Do sleeping pills really work? If so what kind would you suggest. And do they effect LDing?
Or, if you have a radio in your house or in your room, put it on a station that has music with a smooth rhythm like 94.7 or 101.1. But I'm sure you can find your favorite station. Music is probably the best way to get to sleep quicker. This is a guaranteed for vivid and most possibly even lucid dreams. Try it! Oh whoops! Sorry. :D Here we go :goodjob2:
music doesnt work for me, but fell free to try it. i have a simmialr problem sort of. the mucis in my head keeps me up. i have this music that just wont stop.
Inscents and candlelight? Or maybe a bottle of henissee, it'll knock you out!
Burn yourself a cd of Sounds of Nature
That'll put anybody to sleep..

Ditto, Ditto-even ditto age :)
Try going over your day step by step backwards in your head to get to sleep-works well for me.
To get rid of the music try self hypnosis, my own voice drowns out the music.
I used to imagine myself in a house (of my dreams) and i would shoot the speakers whenever the music started, but usualy it started right back up again-so i scrapped that.
Buy a lot of Serta counting sheep (about 50). Then bring them with you to bed and when you want to get to sleep pay someone to stand outside your window and throw them into your room. Count them as they fly in. If it takes you really long, then pay someone to also stand inside your room so they can throw them back and forth while you count. And then think of that song on the Serta sheep commercial. You know:
Gonna put you to sleep, gonna put you to sleep,
We're the sheep with the sleep and there's no more peep!
Gonna put you to sleep,
We're the sheep with the sleep and there's no more peep!
Just keep thinking of that song and count the sheep being passed back and forth. Eventually this'll be too much for you mind and you'll fall asleep right away (with some guy in your room and another right outside your window, but no worries, they'll go away. Right?).
The thing that keeps me awake is I just can't get comfertable? Any answers for this?
Put your head between your legs and keep breathing! And whatever you do stay away from the light!
I also have trouble sleeping. Sometimes it will take a half hour and other times it will take more than an hour. When I'm trying to sleep I usually just think up a story or movie to watch in my mind to keep me entertained and to pass the time.
I'll try the soothing natural sounds or the radio idea though...maybe, it all depends.
Going to bed when you are actually tired might help.
What type of job do you have. What I am getting at is that if your job or day does not consist of much exercise that could be a key element. a good old fashion workout or hard labor can help you sleep.
Some people meditate:

You could have anxiety. I myself have suffered from this problem where my mind races before I go to sleep
Melotonin maybe. Calm tabs, Valarian root.
A typical sleep pattern. One that does not change constantly.
I do almost no physical labor so that might be my problem. I'll start to do some excersizes(sp?), but deep down im a lazy bastard. ThanksQuote:

Eat ice cream out of the carton while watching a soap opera. Works for me. ;)
I cant fall asleep for hours usually becuase I find it hard to get in a comfortable position and becuase I seem to need the toilet right after I get into bed, even though I go right before...
The best ways ive found are:
-Do a hard days work (now that im working im knackered at night and fall asleep right away)
-Horlicks
-Try to relax yourself. I imagine myself sinking into a black pillowy void, getting more and more sleepy as I do.
-Turn you pillow over when it gets warm, gotta love that cool side of the pillow.
I have the anxiety problem. Any suggestions?
Some people are prescribed to medication if it is bad enough. A lot of the time some counseling alone can cure anxiety with some effort.Quote:

As I mentioned above, some meditate to relax.
Some times you have to change the environment that you feel is likley causing the anxiety. Which can be a very difficult thing to do.
You could try mastuba--
Actaully that music thing sounds like a good idea.
Try a music box or something.
LOL Dracco!! :laughtillhurts: :cooler:
Or take some melatoniiiiin.. which has helped moi! I think. Well I only took it once. But it helped that night.
Sometimes i suffer from slight insomnia. Usually, music puts me to sleep. but if that doesnt work, I usually like to try meditation. i just turn of the radio/tv or anything distracting, and just clear my mind. Anyways, i hope this wasn't totally useless.
does anybody have a good site or a how to guide on meditation?
the cool side of the pillow rocks
