I usually become lucid randomly by just asking myself if this could be a dream, then I check it with the nose RC and by looking at my hands. sometimes then I'm able to fly around and do lots of awesome stuff, but what also happens all the time is that I'm so blown away by how real everything seems that I'm worried maybe it's not really a dream. I don't lose lucidity: I'm still fully concscious and thinking clearly but I have this creepy feeling like maybe this is real life and I'm on drugs that I don't remember taking or I've gone partially insane and that's what's making me believe it could be a dream when in fact it's not. I keep doing reality checks and they keep confirming that it is a dream but it's like I won't let all my normal real-life inhibitions go. does this happen to you and how can I get over it? |

One time I found myself walking down the hallway of my old high school and I suddenly became lucid. I was going to take advantage of this opportunity by doing something stupid, but then i thought "wait, what if this isn't a dream?" then it all started to fade, at which point i said "oh what the hell of course this is a dream!" Frantically i started to spin, but to no avail. I awoke in my bed moments later. In my opinion, if you find yourself doubting whether or not youre dreaming, then you are dreaming, because you don't doubt reality. |

Aside from the reality checks people have suggested, maybe try to really be conscious of what you're doing when you go to sleep and wake up. That way you're sure that if things are weird and you remember having gone to sleep but not getting out of bed, you are indeed dreaming. |

If you REALLY can't shake the feeling thats it's not a dream, just don't let anyone see you doing anything that would make you seem suspicious. Control things with your mind instead. Make DCs think that one hit the other and start a fight. Cause a car accident. Just freak everyone out. |

Today. I hade two lucids in a row. First was only a few seconds long. It moved into false awakening. And then.... I made some reality check and found out that everything is just the dream. BUt the feeling that it is not was there everytime. FA starts in bed and you cant be sure about dream state. |

This isn't really a problem for me since I usually start out my LDs somewhere unfamiliar. I was just thinking about this topic yesterday though. I could definitely see this being a problem for people that always start their LDs in their bedrooms. I know when I first wake up, i'm usually a bit confused, I would hate to start doing weird stuff just because I *think* i'm having a false awakening, when i'm really not |

The more that you do it, the more natural forgetting about fear will me. |
