hey, anyone heard Emperor?

Emperor? I can't get enough of the Scandinavian Black metal, Emperor, Mayhem, Bathory, Immortal, Darkthrone, Borknagar... you know, the crazy old school stuff but I like the new black metal to, CoF, Dimmu Borgir, Marduk. Some of the early bands tho where totally insane, but the music was good

man...I thought they were Norweigen...dude, that Ihsahn is fuckin hott..the vocals are so awsome..I only have Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk, need to buy the other albums..

anyway, I was told to check out Darkthrone and Mayhem, I'm really getting into Black Metal. but the next albums I'm buying are CoF 'Dusk...and Her Embrace' and Dimmu 'something something Misanthropia'...

Scandinavain is just the name of the area, countries like Norway, Sweden, Denmark, you know, Viking countries if you will. Yeah Dusk And Her Embrace was a mad album, the title track blew my mind, vocals where awesome, intense.

Not my music at all...ough

I prefer hiphop and r&b..and everynow and then even opera lol..italian..helps calm the mind..metal enrages the mind

I like techno trance, well the good stuff, if its busy and dosent repeat itslef.

Paul oakenfold is awsome, never spins the same thing again, its always on the fly.

But I like opera and metal too, and floyd, and jethrotull and classical instrumental, reggae, hiphop, rap.... umm well the only thing I dont really care for is most country, some of its good though....

The first four Burzum albums, first two Emperor albums, Darkthrone's 'Transilvanian Hunger', Immortal's 'Pure Holocaust', and the first Enslaved album are all A-material in my book.

I won't even comment on what I think of where black metal is right now; I'd probably just end up pissing people off.

Probably best you don't Silver Sphere, I already think I have a good idea what would be said, judging from Metal forum's Iv'e been to and mentioned CoF's name...
I hear Burzum is pretty "Out there" Was he the dude who killed the guy in Mayhem? And was found with plans to burn churches? Also here he's a racist, which if he is I won't listen to his stuff.

Perhaps, but I've been known to surprise people. 8)

Varg Vikernes, the one guy behind Burzum, is indeed quite a character... he burned a historic church down, stabbed Mayhem's guitar player to death, and recently tried to escape from prison while on parole (Scandinavians have a "weird" prison system). Of course, none of that would necessarily bug people by itself, but he's also a raging racist... funny that bothers people so much, when the fact that - for example - Emperor's old drummer stabbed a guy to death doesn't.

Guess I am truly getting old. Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Neil Young.

Anyone seeing a pattern here?

no, just because we started talking about something else doesn't mean you have to move it. it's called a thread, one thing leads to another? someone may decide to get back on subject, you don't want to move this just because we are talking about music now...trust me, I post at mhq. the thread can be called one thing and you go to page 5 and they are talking about the cookie monster. please, just let it be.

anyway, I thought the guy in Mayhem had his brians literally blown out, not stabbed to death. I saw a pic of it on the cover of a Mayhem bootleg.

Mayhem's vocalist shot himself, the guitarist was stabbed to death. They have a colorful history...

ohhh, must have been the vocalist on that cover then. blew his brains right out.

In the United States we're generally harsher but... we don't quite have results to brag about.
