Question More success without reality checks

I have been doing alot of reality checks lately with not much success. I discontinued my reality checks yesterday and just believed that i didn't need to perform them to achieve lucidity and it results in 2 lucid dreams. It seems that when i relax i get alot more lucids, and now when i come to thik about it most of my lucids come spontaneously.

      Your thoughts.

      Hey there,

My first thought is that having a single 'experience' really isn't enough to make a deduction from. To know if you have more succes without reality checks, you'd need to have consistent and persistent succes.

Personally, I think this is just an example of the thing many of us say again and again. It's possible to try to hard, and very often when you're in that situation, lucidity comes exactly at the moment you stop trying and relax. Getting lucid always needs to remain fun, enjoyable and relaxing. Any time it becomes a chore, it becomes something 'you must do', or a source of frustration, you tend to start getting negative results. The very fact that you're trying too hard 'blocks' your ability to get lucid.

Usually then when you let go and 'remove' this negative block, the lucid dreams start again.

      Just my 2 cents,

^^^That definitely could be it. It seems like lots of times I "gave up" on ever having a lucid dream again, and pretty soon after that I'd have one.

I have not stoppedf trying i still go to bed with the intention of becoming lucid, just no reaity checks. This has also happened a few times before when i have stopped reality checks. So this definetely seems to work better for me, probably because when i am doing reality checks i am stressing out about am i taking the reality check seriously enough, am i doing enough reality checks, what if they don't incorparat into my dream etc. But this way i am competely relaxed and i have an ultra confidence that i can have lucids nearly at will because before i could using this approach so why i changed the approach i don't know.

I personally only find Reality Checks to be useful if I am already Lucid and want to double check to make sure I am dreaming. When I am non lucid I never find myself doing any reality checks.
