Thread: Lucid Dreaming + Sleepwalking

I may be new but this scenario has been on my mind for a while now

Now I have just recently had my first lucid dream, (to an extent) which was at first kinda weird, I usually don't even remember my dreams without writing them down, but that night I specifically remember 4 separate ones in detail as well as accomplishing a minor level of control.

I have also been known in the past to sleep walk, and during select few of my sleepwalking "sessions" I vividly remember dreams having correlation with where I walked to or what I was doing subconsciously as if it was an out of body experience itself.

My question is, during one of these sessions after "mastering" my lucid dreaming, would it be possible to consciously control my "subconscious" self as it were sleepwalking, yet retain the rested state sleep is for? In theory would it be possible to be in a state of insomnia, performing daily tasks while still retaining a mind not suffering the sanity issues many insomniacs do.

I don't fully understand your questions. You're asking whether you can control your subconscious self - do you mean your dream body? Yes, you can control that. And what do you mean by being in a state of insomnia?
I'm sorry for all of the questions, I just don't understand the question. Someone else might.

First of all, to Dreamviews!

No no Webmaster, he means that can he control his real life body whilst lucid. So, go to sleep, have a lucid, then while lucid, make your real waking life body go do stuff and u still be in the sleeping state but u control what your real body does. Right?

Anyway, I don't really have an answer to this. I would like to see what more experienced people have to say.

I would personally love to test this out myself, unfortunately the last time I actually sleepwalked was about a year ago, before I learned about lucid dreaming, and unfortunately I cannot just tell myself to sleepwalk. So I guess in the meantime I will have to practice more on my dream control and wait for when it will come (its genetic in my family so it should inevitably happen sooner or later)

I suppose the image I see in this possibility would be that of a puppet and puppeteer

The last time I sleepwalked I remember almost seeing myself from a third person view walking randomly in the woods (i was working at a scout camp at the time) I also remember a (for lack of a better word) plot to my dream as there was reason I was walking there. next thing I remembered I awoke wondering how I got there, figured out my way back to the tent (little less than a mile away) and in the morning I retraced my steps and remembered vividly the dream and specifically watching myself from another view walking there.

and the way I would imagine is that of my lucid self controlling my real body like that of a puppeteer would do, through a third person view, or out of body experience, like that I experienced the night of the sleepwalking.

The reason this idea stood out so much with possibilities of lucid dreaming is I also remember questioning my thoughts and actions during the sleepwalking through my dream state yet held no control over what was going on, and wondered if it were possible after exercising a level of control while in lucid state to attain that ability to control my physical self. (I never really thought about the concept to actually control my dreams before learning about lucid dreaming, I used to just let my dreams happen randomly)

Sleepwalking is terrifying...(i've never done it thank god) but in my amateur opinion, I think someones sleep paralysis isn't kicking in eh??? o.O -no names being called-

Yes sleepwalking can be a little scary, it really depends on where you are and how serious your walking is. The worst for me was while I was working at that scout camp. I woke up a couple times in the middle of the woods, not knowing exactly where I was, luckily I never quite got more than a mile away though, the most I've been hurt while sleepwalking was when I walked off the platform my tent was on a couple times, about a four-five foot drop and not being ready for it can often lead to you falling on your rear, but I guess I had some good laughs with friends about it.
