Recognising a dream u've had B4 while you're dreaming it?...

Just a question i thought id ask to all those dreamers out there.

I've had this experience a few dozen times before. Im involved in a dream that i clearly remember having had before, and im able to make better (more educated) decisions during the "new" go around.

Its kind of like going through a video game map or level the second time around. You know where the hidden items are and you know the best path for success.

I was just wondering if there are any other people out there who have this ability to realise they're dreaming an old dream - while they're dreaming it?

hmm, I've experienced something like that. It wasn't different dreams from different days though. I had the same dream over and over consecutively and after each time I knew what to do and I tried to survive. Unfortunatly I was eaten by dinosaurs everytime. Certainly not a pleasant experience.

Thats interesting to have the same dream over and over again.

I should be a bit more clear... It not the same dream reoccurring over and over where i realise ive dreamed it before. I can recall at least 6 or 7 different dreams ive had more than once, while im dreaming them. The time between the reoccurring dreams have been from as little as a couple of weeks apart, to as long as a couple of years or more!

(i have an insanely good memory)

please tell me im not the only one with this ability!!!

Oh, thats what you meant. I've had a couple of dreams like that during my life, but they are not as common as yours and I accepted the dreams as reality. I even had one dream where the sole purpose was going on vacation and revisiting my dreams that I had in the past. I haven't had a dream like this though ever since I discovered Lucid dreaming though.

Is that what you mean? If not, I'm sure there are others that could enlighten us on this subject.

Thats cool, a dream where you go on vacation to revisit dreams youve had in the past! Were you like a spectator or observer? or were you participating in them the same way you were the first time you had the them?

Another thing, you say you had a couple of dreams like that during your life but you treat your "deja-vu" dreams like reality and - from what i gather, you play the same role in them as you did the first time around?

      Thats where im confused.

because i realise the deja-vu dreamscape while im dreaming, and im able to make new decisions based on experience, is that considered being LUCID? theres a tuff one to answer

For instance, one of them was a mall setting where there were a large number of zombies (un-dead) walking around taking bites outta the "living" mall goers. I was joined by a group of people and we had to fight our way thru the mall and thru the un-dead. I realised id dreampt it before and i was able to go right to the shops that sold the biggest - sharpest samuri swords, where as the first time i had the dream it took me almost till the end of the dream to find the shop and by then most of my group had been killed. just one example.

I had this dream a couple of years ago, and then again in FEB. of this year. (even before Dawn of the Dead hit theaters - i swear they stole my dream and made it into a movie just kidding.

      any more ideas?

Sorry nightowl, yes thats pretty much what i meant. The fact that you either accept them as reality and let them unfold like normal, or realise they're reoccurring and do something different because of the realisation.

i hope others with any other similar experiences will help us with this one.

I've had some dreams about the same subject for a couple weeks (my old house when I just moved, which apperantly bothered me a great deal) but never any re-occuring dreams or dreams where you get a 2nd chance or something, perhaps it has a deeper meaning? You want a 2nd chance for something? Just guessing here

Id thought about that too CT. Very good point. Possibly some deeper routed meaning about having second chances and taking advantages of them.

Though, is it luck or lucidity that enables me to realise the second chance possibility during the dream in progress, instead of afterwards when i wake up and think, "i remember having that dream before".

      Everyone should have second chances!

thanks for your input CT and NIGHTOWL. much appriciated

though im still in a pretty think fog

you could take advantage of this and try to gain lucidity from that dream if you have it so often, and have alot of fun instead! Its a great dreamsign, think about the dreams you've had and what happens and each time you see something similair, do an RC!

      Ah, I see.

As for your questions. During that dream I was a tourist basically. I was in a car with friends going from place to place revisiting my past dreams, but the circumstances were not the same as I first dreamed it.

Another thing, you say you had a couple of dreams like that during your life but you treat your \"deja-vu\" dreams like reality and - from what i gather, you play the same role in them as you did the first time around? [/b]
After reading about you're mall thing, I understand what you mean now. Most of my "deja-vu" dreams I don't play the same role as I did the first time around. The only thing that is the same is the setting. Sometimes the enemies will be different, sometimes there will be different characters around me etc. But I have had one dream very similar(not the same though) to your zombie mall thing and that was the dinosuar dream i was talking about in my first post.

In that dream dinosaurs were loose and killing everone. In that dream I was with a group and we died right on the streets. After that was a blank or an interval. Then the same dream played over again with the same dinosaurs trying to kill everyone, but I remembered that I dreamt this or that it happened before and that I realized it was imperative that we get off the streets and into a building so we could shelter ourselves from the dinosaur. Of course we still died, but we died differently because of my knowledge of us dying if we stayed in the streets.

I think I had a very low-level lucid dream and the same for you because if we were lucid we could of just gotten out of the situation very easily like blowing them or whatever. ugh my brain hurts now. hope that helps, but I probably contradicted myself somewhere along all my posts.

No contradictions that i noticed. Your Dino deja-vu dream does sound alot like my zombie mall dream. Same kind of situation, with the realisation that youve dreamed the dream before while your in it.

And thanks CT, next time i realise a dream ive had before, ill use that as a spring board for an RC. I only wish I knew when id have another deja-vu dream (so random).

thanks for your help both of you

man this is exactly what i was going to post about

in my dreams i "get this feeling" that ive had the dream before i would say maybe once a month or even once every two months

i feel like i had the dream before but in another since i cant say yeah i had this same dream a couple of weeks ago

in my dream world i remember having the first of the reoccuring dreams but once i wake up i cant remember having the first one at all

i had one of these a few nights ago where i felt the same thing happening and i became lucid because of it (pretty sure) because i think i associated what was going on as a dream i had had before instead of just accepting it as reality

anyways i had the best ld because of it

another thing that goes along with this thread

sometimes i have dreams that feel like a continuation of a dream and i feel like ive dreamt several parts but when i wake up i decide that it was all in last night
