      Damn Damn Damn! University

University just started for me this week, and its really taking a toll on my time to focus on Ld's.

I mean I have courses that start 8:00am and I have to get up at 6:00am just to get there on time.

What really pisses me off is the fact that just before University started, I was really getting progress in Ld's.

Not only Is University taking a toll on me physically, but more so mentally.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Oh ya i forgot to mention this is my first year at university and the past year ive been working a really easy part time job.

      Hey there,

The change in 'waking' hours means that your biorythme has to adapt. Likely this will mean you sleep deeper (due to exhaustion) in the first few days/weeks, but after a while your body will get used to the new sleep times, and it'll be just like before. As long as you ensure you get enough restful sleep, you should be fine.

Lots of people manage to continue to do their lucidity exercises with results, despite work or classes. Just give your body (and yourself) a little time to get used to it.

      Just my 2 sleepycents,

      Hello there,

I'm starting university soon too. But Im not worried because right now I wake up at 6 am every morning to go to work at 7, and I have enought time to try LDing (yesterday night I had one!).

I go to bed at about 10 pm, and do the WBTB at 2:30 - 3.

So don't worry, it´s just a matter of getting used to it!

Are you more concerned about lack of hours or a shift in when you typically get up?

The first is a serious issue, the second, not so much.

I get up at 5:00 A.M. nowadays, and when I was going through with that change it was hell. Afterwards, I slept just as well as I normally would. Just give your body time to adapt, and make sure you get at least 6 hours (preferably more) in.
      Are you dreaming?

I work fulltime and get up at 5:45 am!

Since I do WILDS via WBTB, I only seriously attempt to lucid dream on the weekends.

College has really taken a toll on my ability to even sleep let alone LD! It is very frustrating, but eh, honestly I dont see a solution.

But what solution do you need to see?

If you sleep your 8 hours, then there's no difference in waking up at 6, or at 9!

Except maybe now that you're in school you have more on your mind which can make it harder to LD (at least it does for me).

I just started University as well and I think it actually makes it easier to LD!

I haven't LD'd in about two years and now I am finally getting back into it because it seems like I have even more control over what I do. I can sleep when I want and that way I can wake up when I need to! I feel like I have the freedom to do whatever I want and schedule my life the way I feel necessary.

If you look at it that way, it isn't so bad! lol

It's all about the number of hours you sleep, not how early you wake. Resist the urge to party, and get to sleep early!

I only get about 6 hours of sleep each night during the week, so most of my best LDs are a weekend thing.
