I don't know who brought this up so I'll just quote you for now... Although the idea is interesting, I believe it contradicts certain laws of nature. In biology, creatures tend to be as efficiently "designed" as possible. Mother nature (metaphor, not some deity ) doesn't like waste. When old biological functions grow obsolete, they disappear, when new biological functions are needed, they are created. Every organism, including humans, is optimised for peak efficiency. Now when we think about it, having all these individual consciousnesses living inside our brain would be a huge waste of "brain power". I simply can't believe that something so seemingly useless to the continuity of our species would be allowed by nature.
