Thread: Breaking windows

I had a lucid dream last night, the first time in about 2 months so I walked around a bit. I was mostly concentrating on keeping it clear then I noticed some guy extracting coins out of the antenna on his rolls royce. I knew what had to be done. I started elbowing the side window but it wouldnt even crack. I tried my other elbow with no luck. I started punching it with my right hand but I had no power because in real life my right hands been broken for a long time and its still lodged in my head that its broken even when im lucid dreaming.

I switched to my left hand and was able to crack it. Finally I punched through it but even though I knew I was dreaming I cut my hand. It was disappointing to say the least. I felt like a failure. After a while I somehow managed to find one of those crazy looking 3 wheeled bikes or trikes I should say and I was racing down the road with a couple of friends. I decided to crash into a glass bus stop in hopes of breaking it but I couldn't.

Is it just one of those things you have to fully know you can do before it works? Like flying the first times I used to try it I could never get off the ground because I didn't fully know I could do it. Nowadays I can do it any time.

Belief is a major factor. Sometimes when I've failed something, I simply say to myself, "no! I succeeded! ... then I look again, and everything is as if I did it in the first place.

By the way, your icon frightens me.

I remember reading somewhere that breaking glass is very difficult in a dream, maybe similar to the difficulty with switching on bright lights, though I'm not sure why. One account I read was of someone trying to break a beer glass, they said they threw it at the wall, then tried hitting it with something and then just when they'd given up, it suddenly fell to pieces.

Vortex.

Belief and expectation does play a major role. But, as you see, sometimes the physics of breaking things in dreams don't play out as you'd think. Sometimes the reaction is delayed, altered from expectation or never happens at all.

Yeah its not a simple task. Sometimes when it should be easy its nearly impossible. A dream I had ages ago I was trying to smash a window with a golf club but i couldn't. I managed to break a beer bottle over my own head with relative ease once though.

Whenever i have a lucid that starts in my house i always leave by breaking a window and going through it for some reason. An every time it seems harder than it should be, like it will take 4-5 punches instead of the expected one.
