so i dont know if this has been thought of, but i have an idea for inducing a lucid dream. you can tell me if it's a valid idea or not.

ill call it outside influence induced lucid dream. where someone will come to your side while youre in REM sleep and whisper into your ear, "you are dreaming" and that sort of thing. if you can hear it in your dream and it doesnt wake you up, maybe itd be a good way to induce lucid dreams for beginners.

just an idea. now good luck finding someone willing to wake up in the middle of the night so you can lucid dream.

I can see how that would work. The problem would be waking up of course. The person may startle you or something.

Here's a better idea: Record yourself saying "You're dreaming" and find a way to make it go off at a certain time. Wear headphones or something.
Hmm.... My iPod can do that. I need to try this one.

I've had instances where people have tried to wake me up while I was Luciding. I can remember a fading feeling sort of like sinking into the bed, the strange thing was that the dream I was having was very much changed by the vioce. I remember that the walls of the room I was in changed colour to the nature of the vioce. (purple in this case) I don't know if it's me or what.

My ipod has an alarm clock and I can set it go off at like, 4AM -
And the alarm can be any song I choose, so if I recorded myelf on a .WAV file, put it into my computer, I could say like a two second "You're Dreaming", and then set it to "repeat" so it'll say "You're dreaming" over and over and over again!!!

Hell, I'm gonna give it a shot tonight!

And I woke up =P

I believe it was too loud, though.
Tonight I'll try again with half that volume.

I've tried plenty of stuff like this. I had an alarm clock with a CD player, so I set it to play the CD instead of an alarm. I recorded my voice onto a CD saying, "This is a dream, you are dreaming." the mantra lasted about 5 minutes, then I'd put ocean sounds for another 20 minutes. Most of the time I'd just wake up. I don't think I ever got it to work in terms of LDing though.

One thing that worked for me was a strobe light that I hooked to a timer that plugged into an outlet. It cost a total of about $30 (20 for the strobelight and 10 for the timer.)

But I'd set the timer for 5:00am (or 5-6 hours after i went to bed.) and leave the light running for about 1 minute before the timer turned back off.
It took a little tinkering to get the blinking speed to where I wanted it. My light was little too bright as well. Eventually I just had to pull a sock over the light to dim it. It worked pretty well, I'd say maybe about a 10% increase in LDs for me while I used it.

There are plenty of things you can try. Just use a little creativity.

I think this could be a very good way. Especielly for people who want to experience LDing for the first time.
The only problem is that you need to have a partner...
I would call this technique HILD ( human induced lucid dream )

This is different because it's induced by a person, not a mask, and this might have some advantages.

I tried it on my iPod, but it woke me up. It wasn't the talking that did it, it was the speaker-clicking noise my iPod made when it turned on. :/

I'd probably flip out if someone woke me up while in the midst of trying to aid me to have a LD by whispering it in my ear.

But, on a vaguely similar note, I listen to a classical music radio station as I sleep. They play Mozart about every couple of hours or so. Sometimes the music seeps into my dreams. My idea was to reality check or tell myself that I'm dreaming every time I hear Mozart in waking life. That way, if the music seeps into my dreams or plays while I'm sleeping, I'll remember to reality check or simply become lucid.

Tried it again last night.
Lol, I woke up and the ipod was on 'pause', though I don't remeber waking up and turning it off.

I must have still been asleep when the alarm went off,
it wasn't loud enough to wake me up,
But it was loud enough for me to still be dreaming while my hands took the ipod and put it on pause...
