      Red face

      Hi,

I didn't know wether to post in the newbie section or general lucid but I just posted here.

I usually go to be at 11:00 PM and get up at 7:00 AM. I am dreaming an average of 3 dreams per night and recalling all three perfectly.

Today I ditched work and slept in till 9:45. Between 7:00 and 9:45 I had 2 dreams, the latter being a lucid one (nothing special). I realised that those two dreams were clearer and ability to LD during those was much better than the ones I have between 11 and 7.

      So my question is:

Since I need to get up at 7, are my LD's going to be more limited (seeing as to how my ultimate goal is 5 LD's a week)? Do I need to extend my sleep by either going to bed earlier or sleeping in later to LD?

      Thanks a million.

I have a similar situation. I sleep from about 11:00 to about 6:00.

From my experience LDs can come almost anywhere in the night. My first WILD was after sleeping only 2 hours or so. But generally, they come toward the end of the night after more hours of sleep. And I find I have more dream recall on days where I get to sleep in longer. So if you have the option to go to bed earlier, it may help.

      My two cents....

Most of my LD's occur after I wake up in the morning on weekends at around 8 maybe, and then fall back asleep. So in the morning usually I guess you could say... with lots of sleep under my belt already.

so if I go to bed and wake up two hours later... spend 30 minutes checking stuff on the computer then go back to sleep, will the dream right after that have a higher success of being a lucid dream? I might have to try starting WILD's by doing that...

If you are responding to my statement where I had a WILD after two hours sleep, I don't know. It's worth a try.

All I can say is that is what worked for me the first time I tried to WILD. I haven't done too much with the WILD method. All the rest of mine have been DILDs, sometimes doing the WBTB in the later part of the night.

      Good luck.

I find that four to five hours is a better set-up for WILD... but I think it depends on the person. WILD is a technique you sort of have to fine-tune for yourself, which takes a while. I haven't got it yet, but am getting close to "breaking through" I think. Half the problem is finding the motivation after only 4 hours' sleep to make a serious effort and not just give up halfway through.
