From what i understand your brain is MOST ACTIVE during REM. Even more active than when you are awake. I have constantly heard that during a WBTB WILD, you should try to SLOW your brain down, with breathing techniques among others.

Now heres my thought. Since you are doing a WBTB, you should go directly into REM without going into any other stages of sleep (expect maybe stage 1, which is just drowsiness). So, shouldnt your brain be quite active in order to induce REM?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isnt that how dream masks and Nova dreamers work, by stimulating your brain (through your vision).

So my guess is that you should think about something chaotic while you try to WILD. I dont mean let your mind wander from topic to topic every second, just keep a steady, chaotic thought. For example, think about street racing. Think about acceleration, turns, other cars cutting in front of you and swerving. AAAHHHHHHH!!!!! WATCH OUT!!!!! You know, that kind of stuff.

If my theory works like i want it to, your thoughts about racing will slowly turn from thoughts, to mild HI, to strong HI, to a dream. These kind of thoughts would also take your mind of things like WILD, SP, and HI, which are known to ruin a WILD.

      Well yeah good Question.
I've never succesfully WILDed but I always try to keep myself busy with something while the sleep overwhelms me. I guess Visualising being in a fast Racing car on a Race Track with lots of curves, ups, downs and other racing cars would be a good way of keeping your attention focussed and maintain your Conciousness; Sleep will always come anywayz.

But racing requires you to react to curves in the Road, not trying to hit other cars and the side of the track.
Just like a shooting game requires your attention to be sharp and focussed: You need to react fast if some enemy starts suddenly shooting at you from high up above on the rafters of a building, aim and shoot back. You need to be super alert and Concious so Perhaps Visualising a Warscene where you're a Soldier in a platoon advancing into enemy territory, having sudden gunfire directed at you, and returning fire would be the best thing to visualise while falling asleep: If ANYTHING keeps the Brain Concious and Alert it is Danger: It uses our Survival Instinct which is very strong.

It keeps your brains and it's Conciousness active

It's a good thing to keep yourself busy with while falling asleep I guess.
I might try it tonight since I'm a very Visual person anywayz.

Let's think of a couple of factors that Naturally keeps the Brain focused, makes you super aware and Alert:
      -Danger (number 1 for sure)
-Cold/Temperature (Warmth makes one slow and dreamy, Cold does the Opposite)
-Mathematics (as you need to stay sharp to constantly accesses your Rational Thinking)

I'm sure there's more things to keep your Brains active, focussed and alert.
      Usefull for assisting WILD.

Luminous Spacious Dream Masters That Holographically Communicate
      among other teachers taught me

not to overestimate the Value of our Concrete Knowledge;"Common sense"/Rationality,
for doing so would make us Blind for the unimaginable, unparalleled Capacity of and Wisdom contained within our Felt Knowledge;Subconscious Intuition.

As waves of plastic fame go out of fashion, You're going out (going out) forever unknown. These waves of plastic fame go out of fashion, You're going out (going out) forever unknown.

From above a rain of ashes descends anathema. I will remain, forever will remain. From below, in my seclusion, look up to the sky to see See paper wings and watch them burn.

That's not how the NovaDreamer works. It works by flashing lights in front of your eyes, which then become incorporated into the dream, perhaps just as flashes, or perhaps as some actual object like a sparkling chandelier. The dreamer is supposed to have trained themself to recognise these cues, and become lucid when they see a bright light.

I think an active brain is a result of REM. The point of 'slowing the brain down' is actually the point of staying focused. When you let your mind wander (I at least) you fall asleep rather fast.

If you stay focused (aware) yet you enter REM then you enter a lucid dream.
