Havin A Hard Time Here

First of all, about a week ago i had a dream, possibly an LD. but iunno, i was dreaming of myself in my room doing RC's and knowing about lucidity but i didn't really go lucid. after that, the next night, i had a dream about everybody loves raymond, nothing special there. then i had a dry spell for about 4 nights and last night a very vivid but not lucid dream bout me at work, taking driving lessons from john travolta. even tho i think i found my dream sign (john travolta), and doing RCs in real life, im still having a hard time harnessing an LD experience. do i need to do more or will it come naturally? :? :?

hopefully it will come naturally, but you could try reading through some of the other induction techniques (like WILD)

Give it time. You will get it. Don't give up.


Also, don't try too hard. It will negatively affect your progress.

oh trust me, i'm not. I learned my lesson on trying too hard.

.Jared.'s exactly right. Make sure you're taking your practice somewhat casually, if you're not seeing any results. Getting too anxious about it will often raise your chances of "doubting yourself" out of an experience. Your lack of progress can bring about discouragement, which brings about doubt, which brings about lack of progress. See?
Now, the way I started LDing was before getting the chance to hear/read about it, and I had my most amount of success during nightmares. How often do you have nightmares and or danger-filled dreams? If you can gear yourself up to start recognizing your state in moments of "need," you have a smaller chance of passively ignoring the dreamsign of danger.
Remember when Neo was on the rooftop, and the agent was shooting at him? He was able to utilize his potential as a reaction to the danger, instinctually knowing that he just HAD TO DODGE THOSE BULLETS, even if he wasn't sure he was fast enough to do it.
That's how I become lucid, most often.

Do you have many action-packed dreams, or are they usually more on the mundane side?
