For the past 4 nights I have been able to have a lucid dream almost every night (yay). The problem is they have all ended in under 30 seconds. One was my own fault because I got too excited. The others though... I don't know. They have just been "fading to black" so to speak. Last night I decided to kind of take a break, I went to bed without any intention of having a lucid dream at all. Well I had a lucid dream anyway, and as soon as I became lucid it began to fade like the past few nights. I had set it in my mind to take it slow this time so I didn't lose it. So I did the hand rubbing thing which worked WONDERS on August 1st(the only lucid I've had more than 45 seconds). It worked for all of 10 seconds and then it faded to black and I woke up. I understand that I am still new to this and all, hell I've come pretty damn far since July 16th when I started trying. Still, it is rather disconcerting and it upsets me. I want to know if this has happened to anyone else, and if so what did you do to remedy it?

At least your lucid dreams last more than 3 seconds

Anyway, have you tried dream spinning?

Yes I have tried spinning. That was my method in the my first 3, it tends to wake me up rather quickly.

I have a similar problem. Mine don't even last ten seconds, most of the time. I know the "fade to black" thing very well, all my Lucids end like that. I've tried spinning and that only worked once. Hand Rubing doesn't do a thing so far. Maybe with time it will become better.

This used to regurly happen to me. however it not a big problem basically your mind is not used to consciously dreaming environment the key is not to focus on a particular thing this explaines why dream spinning and rubbing your hand make you wake up. the best thing you can do just be conscious of environment and let thing stabillize not panick your way with techinque that will not work for you. the technique you should try is not to think whilst going to sleep but try to imagine a object like a rose in front of you and then try and give that rose a sound then smell e.t.c. and then when your dreaming it will not freak you out of the dream.
