Hypnotically Induced Lucid Dreaming

Seeker contacted me on Yahoo and inquired about my remark about this in the "Looking for a n00b to adopt" threat, so here's some further explanation.

During my counselling periods with teens (and on the side with friends sometimes) I decided to try and attempt hypnotically induced lucid dreaming. With doing so in the matter of counselling, the original motivation to divulge into the matter was simply to bring out the dreams. My belief and interpretation of dreams truly coincides along with Sigmund Freuds in the fact that dreams are an subconscious portrayal of an individuals life through associative scenes, items, etc. due to the emphasis of those certain significant elements (of course, others have many different beliefs upon dreaming, *Eyes Lucius*, but this is a very common one amongst psychoanalysists). Knowing this, and the fact that the elements portrayed within dreams typically show the significant and most important thougths at the current time, it helps to further understand an individuals problems and character.

When I thought about the matter of hypnotically inducing dreaming, it was simply to recall dreams, not to narrate a dream during sleep. In other words, I'd hypnotically suggest to the patient during sleep that they will remember their dream, and tell me all about it when they awake. Of course, it would usually take sometime and was usually only best to do so with an already exhausted patient (seeing as a patient with high blood rate and "excited" would take long to bring to a calm state to induce sleep upon. Of course, hypnotism is easier upon a calm and relaxed person, seeing as that is one of the most important factors in order to divulge into hypnotism).

With knowing the significant elements portrayed in a dream, it would be easier to understand an individual without their conscious clouding the true intentions and motivations behind their lifes decisions, etc. etc. I think it'd be a revolutionary method of lie detecting and seeking a suspect in a criminal case, but anyways...

After a few sessions of doing this, the idea of lucid dreaming came to mind and the results of it. Truly there was no other motivation behind inducing lucid dreaming other than seeing what the desires of the individual are; what you do in a lucid dream, is most likely what you desire most in reality. Besides that, with friends, it's simply to "do something cool."

Psychoanalysis as entertainment.. hm. Psychotainment.

Edit: I got carried away in the motivation behind doing such a thing so much and forgot about the method. (This is because I feel the motivation was truly more important..)

The method is quite simple if you are already familiar with hypnotism. It's simply reminding them to remember the dream or realise that they are dreaming. I'd post methods for hypnotism, but it's all conventional and I find that there are several methods in doing so. (Unless someone would truly like to hear it...)

Ahhhh, good old Freud... i just got out of a lesson explaining his theory of moral developement...and how women have no morality, and men have more of a moral 'structure' because they have a fear of casturation...

I know there is more to it, but that was the 'beefy' stuff...

Unfortunately, I am one of those people that cannot be easily hypnotized. I think it is probably due to a deep aversion to having people poking around in my mind. :sunflower:

I even have difficulty with autohypnosis, but hey, if you are getting results, that is great!

Hopefully some others here can benefit from it.

sounds cool, i didn't know there were many psychoanalytic’s left. -- i did some research a while ago... i really like the id, ego, and superego concept. i don't totally agree with the psycho-sexual stages however, (oral, anal, phallic, latency, genital) because what freud said is true... sometimes a cigar, is just a cigar. and that turns all those compensating behaviors on end when you throw that into the equation.

What pigeons represent could be a few things but first, what kind were they? How did you see them?

If they were pigeons that you see just fluttering about the sidewalk as you would normally walking down the street, then it could just represent little people or influences in your life. If they were pigeons in a park or in a more comfortable scenario, then it could represent relationships. Depends on how they were depicted in the dream.

The results from hypnotically induced dreaming is very profound as it typically entails significant characteristics in the individual. They have been just about 100% accurate in the associations and helping to understand them.

If you're un-able to be hypnotised due to consistent and monotonous attempts at it, it could be because the consistent attempts created a more stubborn unconscious ego. In the opposite light, if you are easily hypnotised, then it could precipitate that you are a very open individual and open to suggested psychic themes (this is also a theory a few have in which allows a person to be inclined to psychic attributes).

I will personally hope and like to be hypnotised as it awakens parts of the brain that you couldn't do on your own. Just like in life, external influences help develop the internal.

Oh well I was in our house but it had a different ceiling, a really high ceiling and there where wooden beams on it where they sat on (like, a stable or something) and they where living there and they where shitting on all our stuff in the livingroom. One of em was a bit crazy or something because it flew into a wall. So I grabbed it and was like, yay finally got one of those bastards. Then it got mad at me and started pecking at me. I panicked and asked my dad what to do and he said snap its neck. And I did, I twisted its head around. And then I dropped it on the floor, but when I did that I was like "Oops I must watch out my dog doesnt start playing with it"...

Its a weird dream... I usually am pretty good at figuring out what my dream ment but this one confuses me heh.

The fact that this occured in your house then, and interpreting it with the skills I have learned, that there are some unwanted people in your private life at the time essentially.

You and your family have probably tried consistently to get rid of them (most likely another family, or some sort of business) diligently, with little avail. Although, you have finally found a loop hole on your own and, with your fathers advice, took advantage of it.

However, after taking advantage of the loop hole to help get rid of these people, you may feel guilty about it, or that you want to get rid of all evidence of this action before other people come to realise it.

It's pretty vague and just like most dreams, it can mean a lot of things.
