      Polyphasic sleep experiment -------FAILED------

      ----------FAILED-----------

      ok, its the two week christmas break now and iv decided that since i have no life and nothing whatsoever to do for the next 2 weeks im going to attempt to put myself on the polyphasic sleep schedual.

      Heres some links to websites about it:
      http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2005/10/p...lyphasic-sleep/
      http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=892542
      http://www.polyphasicsleep.com/

      if i succeed I wont gain anything considering im going to have to quit it as soon as school gets back in and then ill have to deal with that and a job.... but thats not the point of this, the point is to get to know myself better and the effects of this on the mind and if i can actually do it.
      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      I will be grading myself on some scales from one to ten, one being the worst possible feeling that iv ever endured in that particular subject and 10 being how i feel normally when i can fully function without thinking about it at all....
      heres some examples of how im feeling now:

      sleepiness: 8
      bodily functions (headaches, nausea, etc... i'll specify):10
      hunger: 5
      happiness:10
      ------
      I may add more to this but thats the general way ill be going about it, this is day one and im about to take my first nap, my only fear is that my alarm doesnt wake me up or i turn it off and just lay back down....

      Also if you would like me to add more information on the way it affects me that you've been wondering about please post

      Good luck with your plan. I had tried it for three weeks solid and practise some form of polyphasic sleep that includes less but longer naps(around one hour four times a day or one three hour nap with four one hour naps, and other variations. Tell us when you think the change in your schedule has changed the amount of REM and Lucid Dreams.

      8) its so sweet that you're trying this. i can't wait to see how it progresses.

      hell, if it significantly increases your lucid dreams, i just might give it a shot (seeing as i was just laid off from my construction job for a month or so)

      good luck.

      oh, and i got the impression you are a crazy son of bitch before you ever posted this...

      day 2

      [size=18]Day 2

      ok day two
      ------------------------------------------------------------------
      [size=18]6 AM

      Ok, day two is off to a good start, i had a pretty rough night last night (almost dozed off a few times but never did for more than 5 secs) anyway after this nap period the strangest thing happend, first off, i slept like a rock (thankfully) and secondly i woke up refreshed and remembering a dream that i had in that thirty min period.... also the 30 minutes right as i woke up seemed like it had lasted at least 6 hrs

      sleepiness: 10
      bodily functions/ health:10
      hunger: 10 (been stable so far)
      happiness:11 ( I feel REALLY good right now, im sure ill start feeling bad soon though )
      -------------------------------------------------------------------
      [size=18]10 AM

      slept pretty well, and im a little groggy but mentally i feel pretty good

      sleepiness: 7
      bodily functions/ health: 10
      hunger: 8
      happiness: 9
      --------------------------------------------------------------------
      [size=18]2PM

      pretty restful... took a little whilke to wake all the way up,
      i went to the dentist soon after waking from this one (got to chat with people) and i found that i cant talk! its like i know what im trying to say but my voice doesnt want to keep up, (i could talk but it was weird to hear my voice lagging behind) i couldnt keep a room voice either, i was either loud or really soft im not worried about it though because this has happend to me before when i was sleep deprived
      (this went away after a little while of waking up)

      sleepiness: 7
      bodily functions/ health: 8 (i got heart burn a few times today and i had minor troubles walking, this usually happens with sleep deprivation for me though so no worries)
      hunger: 10
      happiness: 10

      3 hrs in 24 hrs.

      the hardest part of this so far is knowing that im not going to have any LDs while on this (im barely rememberijng dreams when i have them, im sure you could LD every time with this but not with 2 weeks practice)

      Dreamsex where have you gone

      ok i went to do my 6 hr one like normal (feeling well and all) set my alarm etc.... and then laid down and drifted away, i then woke up at 8 AM this morning (14hrs later ) I have no idea what happend last night.... if i turned it off or if i never turned it on but anyway this wasnt a total loss because now i believe in poly sleep because iv been up that long before and i was way worse off then i was this time, (and other reasons such as how i felt when i woke from my nap that had REM), anyway another possible reason i failed is because i was eating some meats and such (not sure about that) and because i was a stupid son of a $&%@> for trying...

      anyway last night wasnt a total loss at all.... i had the single most vivid lucid dream iv ever had in my entire life, i became lucid and walked outside (noticing that the dream wasnt shaky at all like it has been lately) and i began to do some focus techniques that iv been thinking about lately, i focused on how my clothes should feel on my body, instantly i felt clothes on me for the rest of the dream, i focused on the cold breeze on my body, instantly a nice chilly breeze started up, hitting only my face and hands (i was wearing a jacket) i then just continued to owalk around and enjoy the rest of the dream continueing to stimulate senses like smell and taste (both of them as vivid as real life)
      anyway i also had about four more dreams last night that werent LDs but were very vivid

      what iv learned from this experiment--
      -sleep deprivation is fun
      -nap often for a healthy feeling
      -lucid dreams of mine can still be stable without me thinking about it

      note: i was thinking about how to use this sleep schedual for LDing, since it teaches you to go straight into REM you could set aside one day a week to WILD and have your alarm set for like 2 hrs after going to bed so you have time to do it
