      Sleep Apnea and LD

LDs seem to some times start for me at periods when I'm half asleep or if I wake up for a moment then go back to sleep. Also LD can be trigered by external forces (like a beep on a wach that you use to remind you to do reality checks). I was thinking that maybe Sleep Apnea could triger a lucid dream. Sleep Apnea is when you stop breathing during sleep if it happens for long enough it can wake you up. I would think that if it wakes you up, while you were falling back asleep you would be more able to go into a lucid dream. Also if it didn't wake you up there might be some sort of happenings in your curent dream that you could use as a trigger to let you know you were dreaming. I don't have Sleep Apnea so I don't know what it feels like or if this would even be posible, I would like to here some opinons on this if anyone has Sleep Apnea or have any ideas.

Dont get me wrong I would not want Sleep Apnea. I just thought someone who suffers from it might be able to use it to gain lucidity.

The problem with sleep apnea is that during the coarse that that person does get some sleep, it is rather meager.
They record no dream recall and do not sustain a good nights rest. Sometimes there REM sleep is deprived due to the fact they rarely get into a deep sleep.

i've experienced Sleep Apnea, but before i started to try ld..
it happend in the exact moment when my body+mind fell asleep.
and i woke me up, gasping for air, and made me really afraid,
it could happen many times a night, and every time, i got equally scared.

But this only happens when i'm really ill, when i have the flu for instance, or a really bad cold, but i will certainly try this next time it's around

Scared... I would think so! That would suck!
Does this mean you have not experienced sleep apnea since you started lucid dreaming?

Sleep apnea is a condition of its own. Not like the flu. you may get similar results.

      what i'm saying is :
it has only happend when i'm sick, like really sick, and have fever etc.
The two last times i've been sick, it's been like this.
i have not experienced it when i'm at normal health.

"Sleep apnea is a condition of its own. Not like the flu. you may get similar results"
i understand that, but it is a result of the fact that i'm sick.
and the results of what's happening, is the same as with people who
      suffer from sleep apnea, right?
I just stop breathing (when i've "breathed" out the air, that's when it happens), i just wake up, gasping for air, and have the feeling that i cant breath at all.
besides being scary, it's really annoying, because i wake up alot of times during the night like that..(when it happens).

Yes, you are correct! I was just pointing out that fact because you had said you experience sleep apnea, in a sense you did.

I couldn't be at all sure that I've ever had sleep apnoea, but I have been known to get something which strikes me as similar. It's just not all the time so I doubt it's serious. Just after I fall asleep now and then I will wake up gasping for air as though throat has decided to just collapse. That's the best way I can describe it...like it can't be bothered to stay open anymore. It's ever so odd. It happened one time and carried on a bit while I was awake which was so scary.

I've always had odd sleeping patterns though...I find I wake up a lot at night and I'm always back and for to the loo Those I don't mind about, but it's that choking and feeling of an airway that can't be bothered which gets to me!
