The Pursuit of that Lucid dream.

I've been here for a few months, i've met some pretty interesting people and heard some pretty interesting stuff. It is my impression that many of you are open minded people, who have many an idea and thought. Hearing your opinions has caused me to question things and doubt my ways of handling certain situations. Opening my mind if you will.

As of yet, I have not had a lucid dream, I have however, had many an interesting dream since I came here.

This leads me to my question:

How has Lucid dreaming or the pursuit of lucid dreaming changed your life? Has it opened up the way to new, life-changing experiences? Or is it like that movie everyone tells you is so great, but when you get there, your expectations were too high and it was a dissapointment?(I doubt this though, reading lucid experiences)

My pursuit of a lucid dream had done nothing but keep me logged on and posting for countless hours in my room. :D

My life is in a darker spot right now.
(not because of any mature or logical reason mind you)

But it has helped me to cope with certain things, because it helped me interpret dreams more. My search here. I've had the feeling of becoming closer and closer.

Lucid dreaming. Even the loss of sleep that accompanies it is worth it. The pursuit changes my life, it inspires and redefines my life, it also changes my day to day relationships, and for some reason lately i can dedicate more time to tasks and control my emotions easier. It inspires my writing too, in a way.

Dont give up...chill out, and dont pull your hair out because you havn't had one...you get it, dont worry too much, just focus on getting a nice nights sleep(thanks paperdoll!)

Well in my case I never had to pursuit it..but a part of me lies there, and everything there, has a severe impact on my life here..its probally diffirent in my case but it IS my second life. But that doesnt mean it is always fun, I would say its nice 25% of the time, 50% its like neutral or perhaps a learning experience(not really nice or shittie) the other 25% is either sadness,confusion,violence,darkness and whatever else shit there is out there.

Where to start....

Well first off, sorry it is taking you so long for your first, but, it will be worth it.

I've been LDing for a long time now. At first I thought, gee, this is neat! Kind of a second life to live. I would spontaneously LD a few times a year and would almost always spend my time flying or just walking around looking at stuff.

I didn't put any effort into it or try to increase my frequency, Just experienced them as they happened. Afterwhile, I became bored.

A few months ago, I became interested in LDing again and wandered into this place. At the time, I was thinking, hmm, maybe these people have some ideas that could help me LD more often.

I was overwhelmed by the depth of knowledge. I learned new techniques and was able to get my lucidity rate up. It is still not where I want it to be, but I am working on it.

Before coming here, I had never heard of dreamscaping and had never thought of trying any of the neat things like walking through solid matter or playing with mirrors.

I can safely say that LDing has permanently changed my life. Going to bed each night is like the night before going on a vacation. I am excited about what the night might bring me.
And, I am disappointed the mornings when I have to get up and have had no lucid dreams.

Also, I deal with engineers all day long. Logical creatures we are. I came here thinking it was all in my head and that all of this metaphysical New Age stuff was just a bunch of hooey. I now think differently, but hey, I've had a lot of great teachers (you know who you are).

I agree. LDs have profoundly impacted my "waking world" perspectives and my faith. I've been LDing for about nine years, so I very much look forward to dreaming each night... At the same time I also abhor the idea of becoming a dream "dependent" (junkie? :P -is that possible? -I hope not.). I dread NOT having them and I almost feel like sleeping is a waste of time if I'm not LDing! I try to learn as much as I can from them... and I'm somewhat leery about inducing them artificially and about suggesting that others should "try" inducing them...

I don't think you have to worry. You are probably the most stable one of us all! :)

Sorry, Lomebririon! I realized that I never specifically answered your Q. :roll:

Lucid Dreaming has changed my definitions of what reality is (or could be -if your heart is in the right place. LDing has opened up ways to new experiences in being able to handle nearly any difficult circumstances that I'm faced with in positive ways... and hopefully, being able to help others do the same -and in me being able to share what I have learned with this forum, and with many others.
