Greetings! Your friendly neighborhood spellbee here. First I wanted to thank everyone who made the Buddy Program a success. It’s hard to believe it’s been going fairly strong for over a year, and from what I’ve heard, it’s been incredibly helpful for a lot of members.

Unfortunately, as many of you have no doubt noticed, I have been suuuuuper late on posting the buddies the past few months. And thanks to my new full time job, I can kinda foresee that it’ll potentially be getting later and later each month (to the point where I’ll be putting up July’s buddies in November). I apologize greatly to anyone I have inconvenienced with my tardiness, but the way the Buddy Program is now, there’s just a lot of overhead and time-consuming stuff to make sure each month’s buddies get done right.

So I’m hoping to remedy that with a little bit of a format change. Here’s how it works.
  1. First things first, if you’re looking for a buddy, make a post in this thread. Put a little bit about yourself, like:
    - Average lucidity rate
    - What got you interested in lucid dreaming
    - Some of your current dream goals
    - Any other info you think might be interesting for people to know about you
  2. After posting your info, if you see someone that’s already posted that you would like to be buddies with, send them a PM (click on their username, and then click Private Message) saying you want to be their buddy. Or, you can wait for someone PM you (though I’d advise making the first move if you don’t hear anything back after a few days).
  3. If you a receive a PM from a potential buddy and you accept, congratulations! You now have a buddy! The two of you can share recent dreams, current lucidity methods, etc.
  4. You can have more than one buddy if you would like, but if you are satisfied with your buddy and don’t want to receive any more PMs about your post, send me a PM with a link to the post you would like to remove, and I can delete it for you.

This method is fairly experimental, so there might be a few changes over the next few weeks/months. There’s also a chance it might be a complete flop and we’ll just go back to the old method. But ultimately I think this will work pretty well, because:
  • Quicker turnaround time. Instead of applying and then waiting 2 weeks (or more) for the new buddies, this process will be pretty much instant – as soon as you hear a response, you can start doing your buddy stuff.
  • Unlike the previous method, brand new members are welcome. The old one-month minimum was to prevent problem arising from some new members using the forums for a day or two, and then disappearing forever, leaving their buddies all forgotten, cold and alone. But I don’t foresee that happening, mainly because of the quicker turnaround time I just mentioned.
  • Less work for me, which I am the most thrilled about. Just being honest.
