      Question Sleep Apnea and WILD

Whenever I attempt to WILD, once I get to what I assume is the end-game transition into my dreamscape my breathing gets really shallow. I cannot feel my breathing with any form of regularity and it unnerves me enough to snap me awake every time. I’m not sure if this is a common occurrence for LDers or not, but it got me curious enough to want to run this next question by any members who have sleep apnea and also perform WILDs to attain lucidity.

Assuming you’re not wearing a CPAP mask, could one in theory detect a presence of shortness of breath in the night while lucid? Also for anyone else, do you experience shallow breathing while transitioning into a dream? I’m rather interested in this predicament.

So, just to clarify, have you been diagnosed with sleep apnea?

If the answer is no, don't worry about it. Your mind may play tricks on you when you're nearing a WILD transition. This includes the delusion of breathing problems or even suffocation. As an example, I've had such experiences when I first started WILDing myself.

      Hope this helps.

Yes. I have also experienced what feels like heart palpitations whilst trying to WILD during my first attempts and at one point it felt like my heart was going so fast it may explode. It can be unnerving and I too woke myself instead. I’ve found this only occurs when laying on my back so maybe adopt a new sleeping position for WILD?

I have this sort of stuff happen a lot too. What worked for me was not avoiding it, but rather, leaning into it. Embrace the discomfort. It's odd, but that seems to get me through it faster and into the lucid dream. Good luck.
