My Best Approach to Lucid Dreaming
*Best for me!!
Hello all! I'm new to the forum, but thought I'd start by discussing an approach to lucid dreaming that works very well for me.
My main source of lucid dreams comes from DEILD and WILD, but I do have the occasional DILD. Expectation and intention are the two most important qualities in my opinion and when I look back on dry spells or a sudden 'inability' to lucid dream, there is always a correlation between this and my expectation and intention (and ofc dream recall ability).
I've found an approach that ensures expectation, intention (mental energy) and dream recall are all at their peak to increase chances of success.
I only ever attempt DEILD/WILD on Thursday to Sunday. Monday to Wednesday, I only focus on dream recall and DILD/MILD (usually I find not focusing on lucid dreaming AT ALL during these three days is more effective - I will only focus on dream recall during this time).
This means that I think of lucid dreaming as an activity I only do towards the end of the week and I have a high EXPECTATION to lucid dream on the weekend. Often just the expectation itself is enough to give me 2-3 lucids.
The break from Monday to Wednesday allows me to regain the mental energy lost after trying to lucid dream for four days straight. This prevents mental exhaustion and keeps my INTENTION strong as it is reserved for the weekends. Mental exhaustion which is a real issue especially with DEILD/WILD. The disappointment from failure ruins expectation/intention and this applies to DILD/MILD. The three day break also ensures dream recall isn't affected (especially from DEILDing).
So yes, that's my approach -- 3-4 days of strict dream recall only and 3-4 days of lucid attempts. This ensures my mental energy, dream recall, intention and expectation are high and as a result I can guarantee at least one LD a week!
