transformation techniques / advice

So last night was the first time I tried shapeshifting / transformation in a lucid dream. I tried turning into a cat. I'm not sure why I chose this... but it seemed to work, I know that I changed size, because I jumped onto a countertop and walked across a cash register, and also I brushed along a human's hand and I could feel my own fur, but my body shape seemed off... cat's joints bend the opposite way that our legs and arms do.. and i felt more like a human in that sense. Does anyone have advice for making transformation feel more realistic? I feel like size and texture was easy, but actual shape and physical structure is difficult.

I think, for realistic transformations first you will need to read about the animal's detailed anatomy, second you will need to daydream about being that animal (visualization+other senses). How does it feel to have your joints bend the opposite way? What about hearing a lot better? Practise being that animal. Never did transformation myself though (except human to human transformations) Definitely on my to-do list! Good luck :content:
