Thread: What is the purpose of writing dream journals?

Hi dreamers !

I have seen many lucid dreaming tutorials and most of them mentioned about having a dream journal. I am aware that this can help us recall our dreams better, but I don't know how this can help us lucid dream? Or does it?

Also, can anyone tell me how stress affects our dreams? In most cases, I don't rest before i sleep; i usually do my homework/study then go to bed straight away. Is this a bad thing? Would this lead to a lower chance of lucid dreaming?

From what I've learned, you have no idea what your mind can do. From that, I forgot I had a dream journal. I found it again today and dont remember any of the dreams I had in there. I do remember some images from those dreams though. You'd be surprised what you remember and what you forget. I feel like after reading my lucid dreams, I want to work towards getting lucid dreams again. I do get the occasional dream, but they are typically faded, and obvious they are dreams. I don't get excited about much, but lucid dreaming always excite me. They are stories that write themselves.

Dream journals also help you to detect 'dream signs' by reading previous dreams, these in effect are a way a dream journal helps you get lucid
