I don't think it's that bad of an idea. When people read about what you're doing in a lucid dream they may become interested. Also, you are not pushing the topic on them, they are free to read about it or not on your page. You can even add a few links to lucid dreaming sites. You will know who your real friends are as they will encourage you. Those laughing will do so out of ignorance.Quote:

I think it's extremely frustrating how so many people don't even want to care about lucid dreaming at all.
When I have these beautiful flying dreams and feel complete control over my surroundings, and then wake up with a huge smile on my face, I just want to rush out of my house and tell everyone about it, and make them start practicing it.

Dreams are a whole new literally boundless world with no borders anywhere, and with endless potential, goddammit!

I know that it's not "important" to make them start practicing lucid dreaming, but it's so annoying to know about something as fantastic as lucid dreaming and always notice that almost nobody cares about it.
It's natural to wanna share fantastic experiences, and lucid dreaming is clearly something worth sharing.
I even know people who have said that they wished they could fly, and when I hear them say that I react like any other lucid dreamers would react - I try to tell them about my lucid flying dreams.
But not even then do they want to listen!
Their reaction is usually just some silly "yeah well, flying dreams are nice when they happen", and they seem to have surprising problems understanding the whole "...but I know I am dreaming in these dreams, and it is possible to learn to recognize the dreamstate" part.
I can only recommend to talk to the nerds, to people taking life quite seriously, thinking about philosophy, generally navigating "deeper waters". Maybe some new friendships with at first unlikely seeming candidates could crop up. The dumber they are, the more difficult it will be - people only out for raw fun won't put in the work that's needed, I'm afraid, might even sneer at taking a look at their own minds.
Check out the rather silent, the lonely, the thoughtful people.
Or go to a Buddhist temple and talk to a nun, monk or some young Buddhist organisation, they're the most happy, funny and thoughtful people I know. =]Quote:

Well - yes and no, Memm. I have a very dedicated Buddhist friend, and she's on another "path" - one that doesn't contain LDing practice, she's even of the opinion, it could detract her from her other practices. So you needed to find a brand of them, which do practise LDing. To convince a whole temple, with abbot and all, to introduce a theoretically novel tech, even while contained in the canon, will be rather difficult. LDing Buddhists are not as widespread as one might think.
Do you have personal experience, a special recommendation, a name of such a branch?
I wasn't talking about LDing specifically, just open minded and thoughtful people. You shouldn't push LDing on anyone, if your friend says it's a distraction for her then she knows her own mind best and I would say temples already have their hands full with their own practices.
I don't know of a specific branch that practices LDing.

Sometimes people miss things simply because they don't realize what they are missing
One of my cousins discovered lucid dreams a couple years ago, and it sounded like she was experiencing some kind of DEILDs, and she was amazed by them.
And that was certainly a positive surprise to me, finally someone who got a foretaste of lucid dreams in my hometown except for myself. :cheeky:
I definitely agree that LDing should be done by everyone, I also wish everyone would learn mnemotechnics, meditation and many other things, but everyone has their own point of view on things and I think that should be respected or at least stay calm about it (not always easy). ;-)
The best thing you can do is just be a lucid dreamer, if people can see how great it is to be one they'll jump on board. Like if you see someone smiling you feel like smiling yourself, but if they go up to you and start telling you about all the great benefits of smiling you might just want to wipe that smile off their face. :hrm:

I get bored of people in general. It has nothing to do with talking about lucid dreaming or not.
Frankly, though, I'm a very quiet person and I don't attend social gatherings if I can help it. When I do, however, they're always with my friends, and if they're my friends then we're going to have things to talk about. I mean, lucid dreaming isn't the core of my existence. I have more things that interest me. Not to say that I don't love lucid dreaming.
If you want to have good conversations with people then you need to try to get to know them for them. Ask them what their hobbies are, their likes and dislikes, etc., if you aren't already. That could help.
