I put 4 sticky notes around my room.

Saying "Are you dreaming?". So are sticky notes just to remember reality checks or can they cause false awakenings? Anyone have experience with them?

They should mainly help you reality check and raise your awareness. I've never used them personally. I don't think they would cause false awakenings though, but they could help you determine whether or not you're sleeping if you do find yourself in a false awakening state. In your dream the note might not be there, or say something else

Personally, I wouldn't use them because odds are most people don't stay in their house all day everyday. However, if you do, they would be a great way to practice awareness, but from my experience, they only bring awareness to the environment that the sticky notes are in.
In my opinion, a better way to take advantage of this "technique", is to write something down on your hand or something. Some people do this by writing any letter of the alphabet on their palm, and whenever they happen to see their hand and see the letter, they do a reality check. Anything like that I think would work better as an all-around awareness type of method, whereas with a sticky note your awareness seems to be confined only to where you place the sticky notes themselves.
But hey, what works for one person might not work for another.

On a False Awakening note, I'd say that sticky notes would really help. First though, you'd have to get used to the sticky notes, knowing where they are, and stuff like that. It shouldn't take long, but when you do get used to them being there, you'l find yourself making sure that they are there every once in a while.

I would pick something that you can see in many different places, like for example:

"Every time I see something digital I'll check if I'm dreaming since electricity doesn't behave correctly in dreams." So you start checking things like light switches or other devices during the day, and yes from my experience this can cause lots of FAs.

Generally I wouldn't worry too much about doing RCs, just stay on the lookout for a dream, RCs are something you do when you're already suspicious, so it's good to just have something that reminds you to be suspicious. Ideally you want "am I dreaming" to be part of your everyday reasoning skills.

Because we reason in dreams the same way we reason while awake, we try to solve our dream problems the way we generally solve our real life problems.
