      Deild questions?

I am gonna attempt DEILD tonight but had a question or two.
Question 1~ once I awaken in the early morning must I have to stay COMPLETLY STILL or may I quickly record my last dream in my journal the go back to sleep?
Question 2~ how would I know when DEILD is starting to work? I usually always get to the vibrational stage.

      1. No, the point of DEILD is that you don't move at all when you wake up, not even open your eyes (you're lucky if you successfully DEILD after having opened your eyes once). You shouldn't think of it as waking up: more like, staying in that sleepy state--and becoming conscious during this state is the challenging part of DEILD. You have to become aware that you're awake and train yourself to recognize yourself waking up, but you can't move--staying still and relaxed is key! This is important, as doing so will lead you to very very easily fall back into REM to successfully lucid dream. If you end up fully waking yourself up (opening your eyes and moving around for any reason can cause this), it'll knock you out of your sleep cycle and what you'll end up doing is attempting something closer to the original WILD or even a WBTB.
Use some memory tricks if you want to journal your dream for later. For example, invent some keywords in your head that'll remind you of your dream--if cats were in your dream, keep thinking "cats" in your head while you're attempting your DEILD and stick to this word, associating it with your dream. Visualizing your dream as you're doing your attempt is actually recommended for DEILDing, and will also reinforce your memory of it. Then when you officially wake up in the morning, recall your keyword again and you should also be able to remember your dream.

      2. While DEILDing or WILDing, the best thing to do is to not think about how you're DEILDing or WILDing. You want to stay conscious and aware, but thinking too much of the process of falling back to sleep will actually only frustrate you and set you back from a successful attempt. Instead, like I said above, think about the last dream you had, and try to visualize it. This may actually lead you to a successful DEILD where you end up back in your last dream, lucidly!
So in other words, you won't know it's working until you enter your lucid dream (or accidentally fall asleep--if you're still awake for a good 10-15 minutes after you woke up, it's probably time to say the DEILD didn't work). Getting to the vibrational stage says you're getting close, but if I had to guess, you're probably not relaxed enough. Remember to stay as still as possible, and try to only think about the last dream you had--don't think anything too complicated, especially not the DEILD process! Let yourself fall asleep, RC in your imagination every now and then, and eventually you should truly feel yourself in the dream.

      1) DEILD means you lay perfectly still, think about the dream you just woke from, and fall right back asleep. If you rouse yourself enough to write dreams down then that's a WBTB and doesn't work the same way. You just need to decide which one you're going to do and once you've decided, stick with it for some time. Being indecisive and trying to make the decision while you're in a half-sleep state will itself wake you up too much.

      2) You know it's starting to work when you re-enter the dream! Don't worry about vibrations or anything, all that stuff is nothing but a distraction. You should not be thinking about that, it only takes your focus off what you should be doing. Your sole focus should be on the dream itself. If you do start feeling vibrations, ignore them and continue to think about the dream, or just relax at that point and let yourself fall asleep.

I agree with the others - except that you don't have to wait a quarter of an hour to know, it didn't work - that works either within a minute, or it doesn't, I believe, maybe two. Sure - you can in that case have a WILD later on - but it's not a DEILD then.
Optimally you don't have any transition stuff, because you are to a degree still asleep, so to speak.
I had several DEILDs, except one, they were all from LDs - re-entries, the other one was with an autosnooze alarm clock and from non-LD. None of them had these "special effects", while I do sometimes get them when trying to WILD. So don't worry about them - just do some affirmations before going to sleep, to stay as still as possible and keep your eyes closed and hold on to the "dreamy feeling" when you wake up.
Good luck! Got to give this a conscious, prepared shot again myself - maybe with alarm. But after some days, I simply slept through them...
