About 2 years ago, I became interested in lucid dreaming. I did the practices: wring a dream journal and doing RC, for a few day. Then, I gave them up, because I found an easier way to have LDs. |

The method you were doing sounds like WILD (Wake Initiated Lucid Dream). Both DILD and WILD can produce quality LDs, some people think WILDs are even longer and more vivid. I say continue using it if it works for you, you don't have to use only one method either. The amount of time it'll take to have a lucid dream with a different method varies for each person, one person might succeed the first night and another within a week. |

In every age, in every place, the deeds of man remain the same

You make me curious |

Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way
I did the method again this morning and it worked. Unfortunately the LD lasted only 20 seconds. |

There is no right or wrong way to LD. Well, let's not go crazy and hurt ourselves. My point is that everyone is different. What works for me may not work at all for some people. Clearly you've found a good technique for you. Although I must say that it sounds exhausting getting rid of all that energy in the morning several days in a row. But if it works for you then that's great. |

I could be wrong here, but I don't think it's the masturbating that is getting you lucid. I think it's the fact that you woke up, stayed up a bit and then went to sleep or WILD. That's called WBTB - wake-back-to-bed. |

At first I thought it was WILD. But don't those who WILD see hypnagogic images, before entering a LD? I don't see any images. Everything is completely black. It feels like my body sinking down the into the darkness for a few minutes. When this feeling is gone, I know that at this point I have become lucid. Perhaps the masturbating helps relax my body which greatly assists with entering a lucid state. I've tried WILD without masturbating a few times, didn't work. Anway my LDs are very short. They last approximately only 1-4 minutes. That's why I wonder if my technique is wrong. Well my short LDs could be because I can sleep no more than 5 hrs on average. |

If it works, it's not wrong, hehe. Plus, it makes sense, that it would relax your body, because, yeah, it does that, or so I heard : P |
