      best inudction methods

I was just wondering what you guys favorite method of lucid dreaming for complete beginners who have not had a lucid dream longer than four seconds is. If you wouldn't ming leaving instructions or a link to a tutorial, that would be brilliant.

I think the best method is WBTB, which you set an alarm clock for six hours sleep, and when you get up you start reading about lucid dreaming (you don't have to but its recommended).
After 20-60 minutes (depends what is more comfortable for you) and then getting back to bed.

Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

Dear Vivian, I saw you just joined in March and you say you are a complete beginner so will try to send you on the right path right away. Read at least the first post of this thread by Sageous and you will know what to do. I am not a very skilled LDer, I have been getting 1 lucid dream a day on average for the past 4 or 5 days. But Sageous is, he is the most expierienced LDer I have ever seen, he says he has been lucid dreaming succesfully for 30+ years, so I am sure his thread will get you on your way.

What he basically says is that in order to have quality LDs frequently, you need to improve your awareness of yourself and the world arround you, and your memory. So you have to achieve a state of mind where you are always aware of your thoughts and your surroundings. He explains this in detail in his thread.

      Techniques I find useful.
      - Reality checking to increase your awareness
      - Dream journal to improve dream recall (what's the point of having crazy dreams if you can't even remember them)
      - WBTB, especially when you note your dreams in a dream journal is very very effective. You can also exponentially increase the effectiveness by doing multiple WBTBs a night. For example waking up every hour after 6 hours of sleep.
      - Auto-suggestion, it works for me. You tell yourself you will get lucid or have an awesome dream while falling asleep. Yes it's a very simple but it works for me. After all, lucid dreaming is all about your mind-set.

      I wish you luck

As already mentioned by the guys, I also find wbtb practice to be most conductive for inducing lds and can be used with different induction methods (wild, mild, ssild, mantras, etc.)

Here's a great post by Canis explaining wbtb in more detail and also link to the research by Laberge regarding wbtbs.

WBTB works like a treat for me, has been my go-to method for years.

My favorite has to be the good old DILD, checking my hand or trying to recall how you got somewhere isn't really that hard to do and I only have to do it two or three times a day to get it to be a habit. WILDs are pretty crazy tho, I don't know if I'm the only one, but I WILD with my eyes open, it feels easier to do. I believe that they eventually close and the image I was looking at stays in my head and weird things start to happen (morph and such). I guess I find it a better transition than colors stuff coming out of nowhere while my eyes are closed, and I guess I get paranoid. XD
