Thread: Couldn't Change Dream Scene?

Last night, I had my second lucid dream. I tried to change the dream scene but was unsuccessful until I did a dream spin. Any advice? Here's the part where it happened:

...I see 2 guys and one of them starts attacking me. As he's coming towards me I realize I'm dreaming. He kicks me in the nuts and I close my eyes and say "When I open my eyes I will e in a small, dark room", remembering my objective for my next lucid dream. I open my eyes and I'm still in the same place. I do it again and nothing happens. Finally I decide to dream spin. I spin and spin and spin until I feel like I've done it. I stop and fall to the floor, dizzy and unable to stand up. As I'm on the ground, I know I'm in the same area I was before but later on in the night....

Also, I heard a loud noise in the waking world and it transferred to my dream, making me lose lucidity. Any tips to avoid that next time?

...My objective for my next lucid dream was to sit down and learn to control and summon stuff in the environment. I single out a rock on the gravel and try to lift it with my mind. I hear a loud noise in the waking world and it transfers to my dream as a gunshot in the distance to my right. It distracts me and I notice my dream ending. I tell myself to dream spin but it's already to late. I lost lucidity and I wake up.

Changing the dream scene as it is without spinning, closing your eyes, or looking away is difficult, because we are so rooted in the consistent nature of our physical waking life.

Avoiding outside stimulus from the waking world is impossible, but you can tune it out by doing anything to get yourself more engaged in the dream. And every outside stimulus, whether we are conscious of it or not, are factors in what happens in our dreams. Just think of a single noise as one small part of an infinite number of influences.

What's the best way of doing this?

I would recommend experimenting with all of the techniques for changing the dream scene, I found that closing my eyes worked best for me but I'm sure it's different for different people. http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-cont...-teleport.html

For the second part, Sivason posted advice about this once where he said that you could incorporate the outside noise into the dream. It worked really nicely for me. There was once a guy cutting down a tree with a chainsaw down the street early in the morning and so I imagined that there was a guy cutting down trees in the dream and a guy appeared and it didn't bother me and wake me up! I would assume it doesn't have to be that direct though, maybe I could have imagined it was an engine or some strange creature that was dying.

I had the same problem, and I really couldn't teleport. But I just used a door, keep opening and closing until a new scene forms. Good luck.

I recently had my first lucid dream, in which I managed to change my environment about 3 times. All I did was turn my back to where I was facing, and I'd say to myself "magical door, magical door". When I'd turn around there'd be a door there. After that I'd describe out loud the place I wanted to go. Open the door and viola.
