Thread: Where are the lucid gods and gurus?

I'd have to say that Gothlark is one. He tells me about his progress and i'd have to say that he'd be a guru/god/whatever. If you feel like talking to him, just grab his MSN. He goes on that quite a bit i believe.

Question.....would you be considered one if you have had LDs every night since you were 3, & have ultimate control in them? Besides, some of these people want to be tutors, so they put that down!!

There simply is no Objective Scale with to measure. Was Mary Poppins an "Acid Queen" ???. Believe in your own Abilities. Besides measuring yourself against others is trite and quite Humanistic !!!.

I have been lucid since before I had memory. I may have been lucid in the womb. I don’t ever try to get lucid, I just am. My head hits the pillow and the dreams and worlds either come to me or call to me. I can’t properly explain it in a way that can be understood, partially because I don’t fully understand it myself. I'm just a human, after all, but this happens every night. In your ‘average’ lucid dream, I can slow time down if I wish, or speed it up. I’ve spent years inside the dream world, learning. I even had a teacher once. As crazy as it sounds, I feel that a part of me grew up in that world. I’m not trying to be a pompous ass by bragging about what I can do and what I experience (I hate when people do that), but I’m just telling the truth.

All this and more that I won’t get into here, yet I still don’t call myself a lucid guru or god. Why? Because I’m not. No matter how much I’ve experienced or how much I’ve seen and learned, I don’t know everything. I’m still learning. Every night when something comes to me… when one of those doors in that long hallway opens and I’m invited in… I learn. When I close my eyes at night, I learn. When I wake up, I’m still learning. Right now, I’m still learning. I will never stop learning. Thus, hidden beneath the ‘moderator’ title lies another title. “Student”. I will never consider myself a lucid guru or god. Maybe some people do consider themselves lucid gods. Maybe there’s even someone out there that considers me a lucid god. Still, no matter how much I continue to learn, I will always call myself a student.

A Lost Soul, that is awesome! That is exactly what I am talking about. I don't think you have to be all knowing to be a guru, although a literal definition of a god might involve that. I take the title as something figurative. My definition goes with what Nesgirl brought up. If you can have lucid dreams every night and have complete control, you are at least a guru. That is my goal. Being superhuman is not something I so much believe in. I just believe in being superhuman in my dreams, but I am much more concerned with mind expanding, aesthetic, fun experience than I am with having powers. Power in dreams for me is just a means toward the other goals. Would you say that you are able to have extreme experiences of beauty and mind expansion at will in your dreams? Are there any limits to it? It seems to me that lucid dreaming provides a stage for experiencing mind blowing levels of ecstasy and surreal games with the dream reality. What have you seen as far as how far you can go with that?

Dreamboat, I don't see this stuff as a competition. I see it as people helping each other become the best lucid dreamers possible. I think comparing abilities is good for that cause.

To be a lucid guru, one does not necessarily have to be lucid themselves. They only have to hold an immeasurable amount of knowledge of lucidity. Although upon acquiring this knowledge, they themselves immediately become lucid where they are standing, and so while not having to be lucid before, all current gurus are lucid by definition.

To be a lucid god, one must demonstrate the ability to make another lucid, usually through some mystical means. Lucid god's always refer to themselves in the plural person, believing that they are a god and not a single entity. When a lucid god make another become lucid, the other instantly becomes a lucid guru. Interestingly enough, this is the only method to have ever produced a lucid guru. Many have tried through discipline, but could not live long enough to reach the point of immeasurable. As for how one becomes a lucid god, it is not really known. They appear when needed, but what causes their manifestation only they and the gurus appear to know; if a god told you, you would immediately become a guru; and the gurus are not speaking of this.

As to how I came to this knowledge myself, interesting story... I'm really f'in insane.

Find a lucid god, if you can, or create the conditions necessary for one to manifest. Then coerce them into speaking with you, and you will be a guru and therefore know how to become a god.

Well I think that about answers the question.

Trippy stuff, Dreamscape. I have done some unbelievable stuff in my lucids, and as far as I know no gods were involved, but then again I don't know how to have those super control dreams of lucid megasurreality that often. If I could have them every night, I would consider myself a guru. I think I'm on my way.

I have the same idea, I don't think im ever gonna call my self a lucid god, and i think nobody should, maybe a lucid guru, but calling yourself a lucid god would be like saying there's nothing left, im finished, i just cant learn more about the dream world.
I don't even think Stephen LaBerge calles himself a lucid god, and he describes he's lucid ability as "I can lucid dream at will..". I just think there are no limits on what you can learn or experience.

Plus, arent this titles a personal thing? aren't you supposed to put what you consider yourself.

I think most of us that have tasted what it is like to LD would like to be able to experience it more often. The only way that I can experience anything even close at will is to do a RC with the idea that I need to prove that I’m awake. When I fail to do this within a short period of time it’s like a little scare almost goes threw me that what if I was dreaming. It’s not as thrilling as a real dream but the chill that lasts about one second is close. A lucid god! I will trade this life to be one but I don’t think the job is being offered just yet.

Here are some tips I have on becoming a Dream Sage (LG....whatever!):
1) Practice!
2) RCing when you get up in the morning.
3) Teaching someone less experienced than you about it!

By applying such absolute superlative terms to Lucid Dreaming, I'm afraid you seem to be making more of it than it could ever possibly deliver. You see, Lucid Dreaming is an intermediate and remedial stage of development in Dreaming. Becoming Lucid signifies that the Waking Consciousness has momentarily taken possession of the Dream Self, and therefore it always represents something of an interruption. The value of Lucid Dreaming is that the Waking Self can provide some insights and experience and some different perspectives that the more primitive Dream Self had not been able to imagine on its own. The Real Goal of Dreaming is to have the Dream Self to achieve the highest spiritual ends. What would that do for the Waking Self. Well, the Dreaming Self, along with the entire realm of the Dreaming Mind is what is commonly referred to as the Sub-conscious Mind (thought I wonder at times what is so subconscious about it). If our Subconscious Mind were to become almost entirely Spiritualized and Transcendent, then that is what we can recognize as the benefits of dreaming.

So, yes, it is good every once in awhile to go Lucid in order to push our Subconscious Dream Development in this direction or that, but, sooner or later, the Dream Self and the Subconscious Mind have to be able to do all the right stuff by itself. We need to reach the point where we have Big Vibrant Spiritual Dreams WITHOUT having to go Lucid. We need to reach the point where we can say that we taught our Subconscious Minds everything we know, and to allow it its own maturity.

I respect your opinion, but my goals in lucid dreaming are more than just that. I like to be in a really bizarre dream place and be able to stop and look around to appreciate the insane surrealism of my hallucinogenic surroundings. I like to have fun and control what is going on. When I am not lucid, I love my dreams still, but I don't fully appreciate them until I wake up and look back on them. In lucid dreams, I can love what is going on at the immediate moment. I also usually have extreme powers of mind expansion and aesthetic creation and appreciation. Without lucidity, all I can do is wake up and then be in awe.
