How Would you Want to Fly? How Do you Fly Now?

Please post your fantasies about flying here. You can be serious or funny. Then if you can already fly, tell everyone what works best for you now?

I would love to be able to fly like The Silver Surfer from Marvel Comics fantastic Four. I would race at such high speeds that it would feel like leaping off a cliff. I would weave and bank and the best part is I would explore cosmic marvels like nebula and neutron stars. That would be freaking awesome.

Right now the easiest way for me to fly is just to levitate and start moving forward. I enjoy sitting cross legged with an attitude like I am some jinni from Aladdin.

I've been flying for a while now, it was the first the first thing I tried in a lucid dream (like many others). Nowadays it's normally just a thing I do, when I need to go a small distance or reach someplace high. I normally just levitate, not using any thing else besides thinking about flying. However, I have flown with wings before, and that was pretty awesome. I wrote it in detail here if you want to read it; it was pretty damn sweet :).

I fly by swimming breast stroke, haha! I don't know if this is a common thing? It's the way I flew in a dream when I was very young (not a lucid dream) and ever since then I've done the same. I'm interested in trying out some other options now, though!

I've yet to reach full-blown flight yet - I've only done hovering. It was still quite the experience, and I hope to get better at it and eventually fly.

I jump as high as I can, and try to grab the electricity lines or something, which I can use like a catapult to launch myself into the sky. On the bad side, it makes me fly too fast. I can't really control my direction or land where I want to.

I may have the craziest flying experience ever...In a dream I used a constant stream of explosions from TNT firing out the bottom of my heels which in turn propelled me into the air.

Many people report having trouble flying, but I flew in my first lucid ever. I just kinda, willed myself to fly and I did. It was superman-like in the sense that I could just kinda lift of slowly and in complete control. I was inside of a building at the time, so it wasn't too spectacular; i'd really love to fly over some mountains!

I just run and jump and soar into the air lol

I kinda do the same as sparkley, I take off sort of like an airplane. I run at high speed and then jump really high and fly around like there's no tomorrow :D.

I wish I'd go airborne with a bit more awesomeness though, jackc45's method sounds pretty cool. Might have to try that when I get the chance.

In my first lucid dream i also flew. When i realised that i might be dreaming i was high up on a kinda balcony thing. I thought ive only got one chance of this and just jumped head first towards the ground. Before i hit the ground i put my palms downwars towards the floor and made a force of fire come out of my hands to hold me off the floor and fly, (kinda like iron man,) it was the most amazing feeling. I flew around like that for a while but now use more traditional methods most of the time, but it does feel pretty incredible however you fly!

I'm in the group that can just fly naturally when I try to in my dreams. Standing on both my feet I'll just extend my arms to the side and take off - mostly because it makes me FEEL like I have control while flying, and it just seems pretty cool to me :p

I can also levitate and move myself really fast or even fly through objects :p Oh, I've floated on top of a city with DC's doing some awesome dancing moves too, once :D

I haven't lucid dream flown before so I guess I can only answer in the way I would want to fly. I always imagined my arms turning into giant wings like a falcon and I would glide through the sky and flap my wings if I needed to. I never pictured it any other way so it was interesting to see all the different responses, great question.

I fly Superman style, just taking off. My most memorable flights were lucid, flying up above Earth looking back down and another where I took off from a roller coaster. I flew as a kid and I am sure was influenced by the Superman movies. I would also like to check out nebula and the like! I will do a standing orientation hover fly when I want to go slower.

Sivason or anyone that has any recommendations for stabilizing your vision when flying very fast, I would be very appreciative!

I'm one of those people who flies like one would swim. I float mostly, and have to do a sort of breast stroke to get anywhere. I would like to be able to do more of a superhero type of flying though. I've gone really fast in flying dreams before, but on accident. And it usually gave me so much vertigo that I woke up or lost lucidity.

When I want to fly in a lucid, all I have to do is jump up and I hover maybe 20-30 feet above the ground. Then I just "steer" and begin my 4 mile/hour glide through the air.

normally i just will myself to fly. sometimes i am great at it and sometimes i can barely get off the ground, usually if i have had a lucid dry spell my flying is awful until i can get back up to the skill level i had been at previously. twice so far however i have been able to fly really fast and high by imagining a strong gust of wind picking me up and just letting myself flow like the wind. its really cool and feels amazing to ride the wind. unfortunately the second time i rode the wind i was only semi lucid so i wasn't completely aware of it, that first time i was very lucid but i woke up as i got really high up. i haven't tried flying with wings on my back yet, that sounds really awesome but i wouldn't even know how to do it. how do you imagine you have wings? what does it even feel like? im sure I'll need to get better and dream control before trying something like that.

I usually just do it. I find that if I put to much thought into it, I just end up with big jumps.
There's almost a certain feel to it also.

You do not really want stable vision when flying fast. The way you feel like you are flying fast involves blurring lines of motion at the edges. I just pick an object that is ahead of me and picture it clearly and having it grow larger as I approach. I let the edges blur into lines like you see in Star Trek when they go to warp.
