My parents told me I used to have night terrors alot when I was little. I still don't really know anything about them. And what's 'automatic writing'? |

Ok, We have had the Incubus and the ever present Old Hag, but what is the 21st Century representation of this manifestation ??. Shouldn't she be claiming her old age pension by now. I am interested in the aspect of 'Energy Drain". Has anyone here ever tried "Automatic Writing" etc. No direct relation to Night Terrors or S.P, but it does tend to severely drain one's energy as often described in relation to the so called "Visitations" of the "Old Hag" etc. (Now this is somewhat Whacky, but I have heard from various Spiritualists that Spirits Survive by draining Human Energy). |

"Automatic Writing" is particularly well known in Spiritualist circles. I am not saying I am an advocate but it involves Communicating with one's subconscious or "Spirits" if you believe that. Basically Freeing one's mind and letting the "messages' come through on a blank piece of paper. Like I said, I am not saying it produces Messages from the dead but it produces some interesting results. |

by night terrors are you referring to when you become concious at night and open your eyes only to find that your hallucinating an old hag sitting on your chest making you unable to breathe? also this is always accompanied with SP.... |

Well maybe I am wrong, but I read these apparitions often involve the individual feeling drained of physical energy. |

Virtualy any spiritual excercise drains one of energy. It's much the same way physical excercise drains one of energy, just a different kind of energy. Both are physically detectable. As for the Old Hag Phenomenon, I posted about the distinction from SP here. I have experienced both, and they are different things. |

You sound as if you have had experience in various phenomenon, but as you mentioned there seems to be similarities accross the board. I like to "Dabble' if that is the correct word in things of interest to me. Lucid Dreaming is just one of them. But it often seems that mixing Metaphors does not go down well here. |

Apparently I would just start screaming and crying horribly loud in the middle of the night when I was younger and my parents could not get me to snap out of it...almost like I was still asleep or something? I dunno really. But I know it scared the hell out of them. I don't ever remember it. |

"I was looking back to see if you were looking back at me to see me looking back at you".
Be Here Now
I once read a treatise by one Indian 'Guru' called "Spiritual Cannabalism". It set forth the notion that a Guru can drain the energy out of all the little followers that bow before him. It would have been fine if he were sounding out a General Alarm; however, it was written as something of a "how to" book. Anyway, I took it as a warning... both as to the Ethical Behavior of those in the Spiritual Community, and in regards to my own motives and temptations. |
