Buut: If somebody said "Live Lucid and Prosper" - even like that in Germany - the LDers would get it - esp. if you make a pronunciation to go with the "live" that invites to ponder that dreaming is included in living - and that somebody announcing lucid living in Spok-ish, surely does LD as well..
And those who do not - at the worst think you are a presumptuous hobby philosopher.
I actually think, simply the use of the word lucid alone in common tongue will tip of others - at least as in go cryptic back on you.
I hardly ever read it clearly "off topic".
In German - I might do it like this:
The word is Klar-Traum - with klar meaning clear basically. But klar can also be used as "of course" - like clearly also can.
If I give a bit of an off emphasis on it - I could say - Klar kann man träumen.
Clearly one can/one is allowed to dream.
Dreaming would be mainly understood as in making ambitious plans/daydreaming to the un-initiated..
Cool! In Esperanto Klara means Lucid.

It would be hard to create a phrase that doesn't sound out of place if it was meant for identifying new lucid dreamers.
Either/or.

@StephL That's a great idea for a catchy German phrase. I really love the ambiguity of it!

Members discovering other lucid dreamers as well..
I sort of update my own discovery count there - lastly I found some on my darts-forum.
Muuch more interest and actual experiences came up, than I expected - maybe one or the other will click my links to DV I put up.
Got to maybe think of a further small link-list, I personally would like to water these darter´s mouths with.

Yeah. We connect in many ways.

The response could be "Splendid to meet you too, interesting word choice...splendid." If you want to be sure, maybe the first person responds to the responder "deja vu."
There could be a separate saying for acquaintances that you haven't discussed LDing with before, perhaps an exact, short phrase like "Whoa, deja vu." Again, the key is the matching response, maybe "It sounds like you need to unplug" (both from The Matrix). If the first person meant nothing related to LDing by using the deja vu phrase and looks at you strange with the "unplug" response, you can say "oh...your deja vu comment just reminded me of a line in the The Matrix." (you can decide from there if you want to discuss LDing at all).
Whoah! My wife said in her sleep the other night: I NEED TO BE UNPLUGGED, YOU NEED TO UNPLUG ME!
I thought she was awake, and I said back, "What? You're not plugged into anything." I got no response so I assumed she was sleeping.
I find the idea of using code words fascinating, and the obvious greetings about dreaming are also cool. Thanks for all your ideas, everyone.
