What is this peculiar mental state?

Okay, first off, it's been a while since I posted here (been having quite a few cool but still short DILDs meanwhile!)

Now the reason why I'm back is that last night I've been exploring a rather peculiar state of mind that occurs when I'm in bed. It happened often before, tends to happen when either I'm tired or I just woke.
When I lie in bed, I tend to think about things a lot. I'm never really able to clear my mind, I always need something to think about or I get bored as hell and then I can't sleep. Now, basically, what happens is, at some point it seems as though my subconscious sort of sneaks in, and continues thinking in my place, and seems to begin changing it into sort of a dreamlike thing. A few seconds after that begins, though, my clear awareness usually regains control, and I snap out of it.
This can happen in a rapid loop. Like yesterday it occured like, heck, every 1-2 minutes I think. So I thought I'd check it out in-depth this time, and managed to convince myself that, instead of snapping out of it, I just begin to observe those thoughts.

Now I thought, this must be the hypnagogic state of mind, but here's what puzzles me: the internet says that hypnagogia is supposed to induce meaningless, purely sensory experiences. Fact is, what I actually experience is the opposite of that, in fact during this state I seem to have a complete LACK of sensory experiences. I especially noticed that when I found out that, while I was observing that thought-dream, I wasn't even feeling my bed under me, so I tried feeling what's behind me, and suddenly my bed was back, as well as control over my thoughts.

So, tldr: this is a state where I have no sensory experiences whatsoever, including that I feel nothing, but it can't be sleep paralysis because I can cancel it at will by actively thinking or moving. The thoughts I have seem to be like a little dream, except that it's purely thoughts.

Any idea what this strange stuff is and, most importantly, can I use it to WILD?
