Arrow Taking a break from your dry spell

*Now, i do not know if this tutorial is anywhere else on DV, but i am quite sure it is. i just haven't looked.
Think of this as a tutorial on doing W.I.L.D without having to wake up six hours in. And i recommend taking melatonin. So, have you ever noticed
that you see patterns, and spectacles of light when your eyes are closed? That's called Hypnagogic Imagery. you could even see it now if you try, but if you are in the middle of your day, you can't do anything with it.
When you go to bed tonight, Make sure you are VERY, VERY tired. (Which is why i recommended melatonin.) And if you plan on taking Vitamin B6 tonight as well, do it earlier before you go to bed. I always felt that the B6 kept me up for a long period of time. What you need to do is look at the patterns and shapes you see behind your eyelids for a few minutes. When you feel ready, start trying to change their shape. Beginners may want to try ripping them apart. Do this for a few minutes, and again, when you feel ready, try for something more complex, like an animal, or a house or something. Then, begin to make your own world. Detail it as much as possible. Eventually, you will be there. I know this sounds alot like the regular W.I.L.D, but this is the version that you do not have to wake up after 6 hours. And, usually you aren't using the imagery, you just jump right in.
For those who don't know, a dry spell is when you don't have any dream recall for a period of time.
Good luck everyone. I hope this helps. Sweet dreams.

The reason why you wake up six hours into sleep with the normal W.I.L.D technique is because it simply doesn't work if you try to go straight into it. It may once or twice a month if you're lucky, but thats not the ratio most people look for. If this works for you all the time, you actually might want to see a doctor; because it is a red flag for narcolepsy and other sleep disorders.

That being said, this is somewhat similar to the SSID technique; a technique that requires you focus on three senses before bed, and evidently makes you burst into lucidity later in the night without WBTB. Part of SSILD is to watch these Hyp Images intently for a few seconds, and repeating it until you fall asleep, so it could be a similar effect with your proposed method.

I am a fan of Melatonin. If I have been doing activities that deplete seretonin (like too much electronics or exercise), I enjoy taking it to replenish my levels. I find it makes dream control very difficult though, as your dreams and subconscious seem to be on steroids from the Melatonin.

I'll give this a shot tonight, just for the sake of trying it. Have you had any success?

Being really tired when going to sleep is the worst thing you can do for lucidity, I think. If anything, your dream quality can't truly be great if you're just going straight to sleep into them?

I'm interested, and shall keep an open mind though! Interested to know the results!

If there's a "disorder" that results in easier lucid dreams, I personally wouldn't want to get rid of it. If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

This strategy worked for me once, a while ago, I never really got into it but I'll try it again
