dreams and memories
i am new to lucid dreaming and was wondering is it a bad idea to try and relive happy memories such as memories that i have had with a family member that has now passed away, the reason i ask is because i don't want to change my memories in any way and create false memories which is one of the reasons i am not interested in reliving bad memories and trying to make them better.
also are you able to unlock lost memories though lucid dreaming or would these just be false memories?
thanks in advance for the help :D

Reliving through memories can be fun, and really relieve stress but beware it can screw with your head sometimes.
Every now and then I have a dream about a real life event and then throughout the day I actually have to spend a few minutes thinking if that actually happened. I can imagine that it might be worse if you actually purposefully try recreate the memory.
So maybe you should right down the real version first just to keep it fresh in your mind and it will make it easier to remember in the dream.

I once dreamed i was remembering something that happened but it took me weeks to realize that it never even happened. I guess it would be different if you were doing it intentionally though. I wouldn't worry about it.

I have never tried to access specific memories while dreaming, but I do sometimes have dreams that play out fragments of good memories or that are obviously inspired by good memories. I have had this happen with bad memories as well. Sometimes my mind will take a certain memory and change the narrative in some ways. That could be considered false memories I guess. Of course, when I wake up, I don't keep the false version of those memories.
