Ok, I know that one of the training methods for becoming lucid in a dream is the 'ol reality check thing: Perform it during your waking life and you will eventually start doing it in your dreams.
Since I feel rather silly about taking the time during the day to try and breathe through my nose or push my finger through the palm of my hand, my reality checks have become as follows: "Hmmm, if I were dreaming right now, I'd try a reality check right now, but I know I'm not, so...."
Well, last night I was taught a lesson.
Dream:
I was in a car with my mom and one of my sisters. That alone should have been a hint since my mom passed away some time ago. But anyway, we're out taking a drive in the country, and all around us and in the distance are these cloud columns, big stacks fo clouds extending from the ground to the sky - very much like tornado's (my most reliable dreamsign) only more cylindrical and not spinning. At this point I say out loud "This is definitely a time to do a reality check". As I think about which one I will try, I imediately then say "ahh, what the hell for, I know I'm awake!"
F#%*@!!!!
:shakehead2: Well, will this change my waking RC behavior? - probably not. But at least I now get the whole point - waking behavior can definitely carry into the dreamworld.
