I called myself...

Hi, Last night i got lucid and go to telephone and call myself but it said number is not available!! :O
Do you guys ever do it? What will happen?

I believe I read somewhere phones don't work in LD's and normally don't even provide a dial tone.

I think anything is really possible in a lucid, if you will it. they also say that lightswitches don't work, but I've turned lights on and off in lucids.

Anyways next lucid I get I'll call myself and tell post results here.

You obviously had a different phone number in your dream, obviously. :P
Though seriously i agree with with ZeraCook there, it should be possible, and what will happen really depends on one's mindset, control and imagination. :sleepmeditate2:
Have'nt tried it personally, but might give it a go sometime.

I've tried calling out for myself in a lucid before, but I never tried it with a phone. I agree with zeracook, anything can definitely be possible if you put your mind to it. Our dreams are very unpredictable, so it will let you see all sorts of things and malfunctions. It is up to you to work your way around those. It's all about schemas – which are mental structures of pre-conceived ideas. If you read about phones not working in dreams, then when you dream, it's not gonna work because you already have an idea that it wont work.

If you use the telephone again though, you can try other alternatives. If it says the number is not available, tell yourself "i must have dialled the wrong number". Convince yourself. Then try dialling again.

If it does not have a ringtone, think of a reason why that might be. Perhaps the phone is unplugged? Maybe the network is temporarily down? Dial again. Find work-arounds.

That's different. I normally have a hard time with electronic and mechanical things in dreams. I will be typing and making typos like crazy or the words will change on the screen. I'll also try to put a number in a phone to call and I'l never manage to key the number in right.

If you pick up on the other end and have a conversation with yourself, I'll be really impressed.

If you can get it to work, that might just be a really good self-discovery trick! Obviously, there's other ways but just asking questions about yourself to yourself over the phone would be pretty interesting. I would maybe try it out myself if I weren't focused on dream recall. :p Good luck anyways though.

I once saw myself in a bed. pulled my legs, then the other me woke up and said:"Dude let me sleep". Epic hysterical laughter!
