Lucid dreaming within a dream

So for the past couple nights, I've been having dreams that are insanely realistic, in which I go to sleep AGAIN. While I'm asleep I become lucid in the dream within a dream, because its much more chaotic and weird than the one I was in before. Not quite sure why, but a majority of my dreams are becoming so realistic that my reality checks don't work (trust me I know how to properly do one, I become lucid 3-4 times per week.) My sleep schedule is really messed up on top of that. Recently, I've been going to bed around 4-5AM and wake up at 4-5PM. Completely backwards! Maybe dreams within dreams are my minds way of telling me that I need more sleep? This is starting to worry me because these dreams are some of the most detailed I have ever had. I even had a nightmare last night. I haven't had a nightmare in almost six years. Any thoughts? Anyone have the same thing happen? Trying to decipher what all of this stuff means, and its hard when changing dream scene/state/consciousness so much. A background on my life right now: Just finished fall semester at university, and got home a few days ago for winter break. Nothing is different from before. Everything is pretty much normal, and I haven't changed what I've been eating/drinking either, so my neurons are operating like they normally do as well. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated. I don't think it has any special meaning. I went through stage, when I was getting lucid by telling people in my regular dream, that I'm gonna sleep now so I can get lucid. And I saw myself laying down and when I "woke up", I was lucid. I think it's just a way you are getting lucid now. Do you go through stages of different ways of getting lucid?

Do you go through stages of different ways of getting lucid? I've mainly always become lucid through DILD, and WILD has only worked for me a few times. When DILDing its usually the same weird things I notice. Recently though, in most of my dreams, I attempt to WILD and I become lucid within another dream. I actually feel the vibrating sensations and hallucinations when I do it, which is weird. But, that means the feelings are expected.. which could be my problem with WILD in waking life.

Like I had stages, when every DILD happend by the same method: 1. going to sleep within dream to get lucid 2. invoking some kind of a movement sensation from WILD - I used to tilt my head back in a dream or my whole body to get a falling feeling, or I looked at an approaching object, like a car and that gave me sensation of movement All these worked for a while and then I switched to different mode. But I was never able to pick the mode, it was picked for me. But it was, no doubt, fueled by my memories of LDing experiences and reading DV. So I just thought, maybe you have same stages of how you get lucid. And yes, sometime in a middle of a sleep I do feel vibrations or falling or flying and I attempt a WILD without waking up. I just realize I have the feeling, or I remember it in the morning. Why do you feel it could be a problem for you?

I was once dreaming about doing WILD... during a failed WILD, crazy stuff :yumdumdoodledum: , though don't think result was lucid in any way.

Actually I have done this many times. I don't think it's anything to worry about, your mind does some weird things when your asleep. It may or may not have something to do with your awful sleeping schedule, any way you can settle it down? It was only a stage for me, it stopped happening fairly quick. Perhaps it will do the same for you too.

I had that once I would have to go to sleep within my dream, and then I would become lucid. Whenever I woke up, within my dream, I lost my lucidity. Annoying but the lucid dream was still really cool.
