Thread: The drug: Lucid Dreaming

So I think I found out what makes me so excited and happy when I lucid dream!

My schedule right now looks like:
wake up
work
school
sleep
repeat

I am not one prone to worry or stress about anything, but I realized something when meditating and thinking about my previous lucids.

The ones that I enjoy the most are the ones when not only am I aware that I am lucid dreaming, but I am not in a hurry. I spend my time doing what I want, but with no hurry.

I am not worried about what the day will bring, I am not worried about waking up, and I am not worried that I will fail my goal, I just don't seem to care, I just do whatever I want to, and what happens, happens.

As I said, I am not one to worry about things, even with a hectic crazy life. But in a lucid dream you don't even have the constraint of time to worry about. You have nothing you need to do.

Just a thought I had. Post similar experiences or why YOU love lucid dreaming.

Yes, I love lucid dreaming because it is the ultimate freedom. I can do whatever I want. There is no government to hold me down, no physics, nothing.

When I become lucid I have no anxiety too. It's my world, no one can find me, and nothing is real.

I love lucid dreaming because I personally feel my real life sucks. I have few friends, I'm a nerd, etc... In lucid dreams I can solve all my problems, I have a chance to actually do something awesome, rather than sitting and imagining it. Reality is boring, while unreality (did I use the right word?) is so much more exciting and potent.

There are no words to describe lucid dreaming. I dislike life greatly and the only thing I look forward to is going to sleep and getting lucid( cue violin music). The freedom is exhilarating. There is nothing to hold me back but I think the best part about it isn't necessarily the freedom but the blissful calm that I feel inside.

This is an extract form one of my diary entries, I guess this sums it up.
" To me it is more than just dreaming, it is my playground and yet it is all in my head. In waking life we are restricted to what our environment imposes on us, in our dreams we are restricted to none. Imagine a world where a man can fullfill any of his desires, see things that exceed everysingle expectation. Everyone has this world right to their disposal, every healthy human has the ultimate kingdom right at the center of their individuality. Yet almost everyone seems oblivious to it. My dad and sister mention that they wish to have no involvement with their dreams, out of all people they suffer the most from self inflicted pain. It is as if they are trying to prove to someone their worth by not taking advantage of one of the greatest accomplishments of the human brain. If they could even taste the shortest glimpse of a lucid dream they would be stunned by the unrivaled feeling of awe and power. It baffles me that so many people have such a rigid curiosity, how could you possibly not be intrested in the notion of the ultimate form of escapism.
What really intrests me is that unkown element to lucid dreams. Why is it possible? What use would it be if dreaming were simply to re-organize the mind and let go of emotions. Maybe it is just a hack of the mind, or maybe it is something more. It could be what our brain intented as the perfect place to let go of daily worries and emotions, to set the mind straight from the useless crap we endure everyday. It could be intented as a place to learn and practise. It does not necesarily have to be extraordinary or paranormal, but I just don't feel right accepting that it has no use."

I just love it so much, in that past few months lucid dreaming has elevated past almost anything else in my life, standing on par with my social life and music/art. It took me one lucid dream to become hooked and the feeling remains constant everytime. My life outside of dreams is quite alright but if I can mix it with dreams it's even better. No feeling has ever surpassed what I've felt in lucid dreams, I've flown across beautifull landscapes, conversed with alien races, created planets and ruled entire countries, the times I went diving and paragliding in real life don't even really compare.
It's just a shame that so little people understand this, they think that dreams can't be more than a real life situation. While most consider it stupid, I think it is brilliant and will never stop in the rest of my long years to come.
