      The Great Escape

      Escape artists! Gather!

No, I don't mean Houdini wanna-be guys who undo handcuffs. I mean you here on DV that make me jealous with your fantasy stories of lucid dreamery. You who fall asleep and have your own not-so-little worlds to land in.

What of you? Who condemns you in life for this escapism? Who dares to call your bluff in your dreams? Could you tell me just how much more desirable your dream-realm is than the consistent world you must wake up to?

It is the Great Fantasy, and I wish to never wake from it. Do you?

I hate sleep. I either never sleep or I make it a game (and I'm good at learning games). I love my life.

Even if I don't LD I still have 4 or more dreams a night. This is also awesome.

I love my life, dreams just begin to be a part of it again like other things and I would never wish me to stay forever in a dream, that would be no fun, I would miss too many things.

It' a mad, mad, mad, mad world out there, and I'm increasingly annoyed and repulsed by it. What is there to miss?
Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week; you have a schedule, a calendar... Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. Man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures.
A fear of time running out.

Too much stress in the real world. I love getting away in my dreams but I couldn't stay there forever.
I was so much older then, I'm younger then that now.

I hear that a lot (not to dis you or anything), but why couldn't you stay in the dream-world forever?
Also, I didn't originally ask about staying in a dream forever... just for a very long dream-time. (You know, two years in a dream, ten hours asleep.)

Signet, what is the longest dream you have had? I am not talking about time asleep, but what it felt like.

Now, that's something I'd love to know.

My family, friends, my dog, my cat. The world; where people I loved died on and were buried in it.

To be aware of the feeling, that when I do something that it has consequences, maybe even some that I can't comprehend because they will have an unforeseeable impact on the farthest future (Who knows what your farthest descendant will do). Let alone our wonderful Earth we life in, all the different species of animals, plants and what not. In short, I would miss reality very much.

Ofc, if you just speak about dreams where it seems that you spend days in them, okay I'm in for that, but not for all eternity.

I agree with Oceandrop. I have a lot of things I love here.

I see Signet, you might like this place:

I have spent a week or so, but I have had memories inserted into my childhood of a friend I never had. These were non lucid, but the first one turned lucid. I am very interested in spending lots of time in dreams. That is why I am trying to maximize amounts of dreams I have, that way if I have a dream like that I will remember it.

Could you imagine if a drug is ever developed that could induce a lucid dream 100% of the time? That drug would be more desirable to addicts then heroin. Thats how powerful lucid dreams are... you never want them to end.

True, I know a lot of people that say that they have gotten bored at times with lucid dreams. I do not think that this will happen to me, I think that if I get too bored I will start going through all the books I have read. Then movies, then video games. But I do not think this will happen. I feel like I can entertain myself for thousands of nights with this.

I have yet to find anyone who tired of having lucid dreams except those who who did not have the creativity to imagine that which is greater than waking life.

...hot damn, I'm going to have to write that one down. ._.

The one and ONLY exception I have found to that would be a guy here on dreamviews (I forgot who) who has been permanently bedridden since childhood and has had literally thousands of lucid dreams. If I remember correctly, he came to DV and soon after left because his dreams started being fun again.
