Sure, we all know we are awake. But the trick is, to think even just for that moment, that what if we are asleep. I know, this will become easier, after you had a lucid dream, in which you are 100% sure you are awake, then you RC and it turns out you are asleep.
And some cultures believe, that this waking life is also not real, it's just an illusion, or that the sleep is the real reality and our waking life is a dream.
If you think of that and allow yourself to believe just for a moment, that what if they are right? What if this really is a dream? What if you are dreaming and you won't know for sure, untill you RC. Being in a lucid dream is a very happy and exhilarating moment. If you allow yourself to feel this excitement when you question your reality and do RC, it will start manifesting itself in your dreams and it will help you get lucid.
