Does lucid dreaming affect your mental state?

      Hello one and all,

I have just started to read up on lucid dreaming having had a certain curiosity about it in the past couple of months. Does anyone here feel better in general when they awake from a lucid dream. Also do you find that you can be someone completely different personality wise that you couldnt be in reality. I could go on with a thousand questions like this.

Re: Does lucid dreaming affect your mental state?

Well, after my first couple of Lucid Dreams, I did gain the feeling of accomplishment. I was glad to find that I could finally break through the false sense of reality that a dream gives us. I don't think you will find a whole new personality in a LD. In a sense, though, I think you are given the opportunity to come to terms with your own true personality because of the lack of restraints or consequences.

everybody gets happy when they get a LD
      at least i do.
i think its hard to change your whole personality just because your in a dream. the dream might give you the oppurtunity to try some new things... like changing your personality a bit...

When I wake up from a LD, i feel more than happy, I feel high (aka elated) for a most of the following day... The sense of accomplishment is awesome!

In most of my dreams(both lucid and nonlucid), my personality is altered - there's no fear, almost infalliable self confidence and at times a lot more agression... Most likely that's my mind's interpretation of Carlos Castaneda's "warrior's way"

So have you ever woken up from a lucid dream still thinking that you are dreaming and still keeping those personality traits

I find that dreams (both lucid and non lucid) can affect my outlook on life for up to several days. I usually feel kind of tired after a lucid dream, but it's a good feeling nonetheless. The downside is that I get some incredibly vivid (but non lucid) dreams which are bad - I've spent what seem like whole days at work mulling over stressful problems only to wake up and actually go there for real, now that is horrible.

No, there's a clear separation between dream and reality

I woke up this morning after my most vivid, detailed and realistic lucid dream to date and felt very trippy for the first hour or so in the morning, almost like my mind was still ever-so very slightly in the dream state. Looking at everything in reality reminded me of the dream, and I ended up questioning my reality a lot during that hour. I felt great for the whole day!
