      Dream characters

I was wondering... Do your dream characters react the way you would expect them to or do they seem to have a mind of there own? And if they do seem to have a mind of there own what kind of things did they say that surprised you?
I'm hoping to get some funny replies... Thanks in advance!

Hey there, your name's kinda weird, what made you choose it? Dream characters who aren't behaving like robots or simpletons are often called "Dream Guides." Almost all my DC's are simple and dumb.

Most DC's in my dreams act like they have an IQ of 11... Pity it takes 12 to grunt. xD

Hello, Matte87! Hehe, my family gave me the nickname Nazi because the beginning of my real name starts with "Nat". Sorry if it is offensive, I don't mean it to be so, I just couldn't think of anything else at the time that I was making my account. Thank you for your reply! I sure hope my dream characters won't be too plain.

When my dream character are people I know they are often mildly intelectual, being able to perform quick remarks and observations however when it is just a random dc they seem to lack depth of character and opinion. They answer me what I ask them but they rarely proceed to dicuss with me on their own initiative.
      The thing with expectations is that while our conscious mind thinks one thing (The expectation we think we have) our subconscious can introduce a tiny idea and create an expectation that we can do little agaisnt. For instance;
You are in a dream and decide to start shooting laser and destroying cities. you believe that there is no on else in your dream with these powers because you are controling it (conscious expectation). Then our unconscious mind thinks of you failing or a laser coming out of nowhere (unconscious expectation based on what we witness in real life or movies. If you have watched any movie a recurring theme is that a bad guy always manages to intercept the good guy at some point, this same principal carries on into our dreams). Our mind quickly compensates for the stray laser and makes us think it came from another person.
As you can see, it started off a small idea and ended up huge.

So the conclusion we can pull off this is that while we are consciouisly not expecting a DC to say anything out of the ordinary he might anyways. Many people reason that this is because they really do have a mind of their own but I think it's not that complex.

Dutchraptor, thank you so much for your reply, it helped answer my question a great deal. I agree with you completely! I also do not think that it is that complicated either. Again, thank you soooo much, I appreciate that you took the time to write your comment!

Most of the time they have a mind of their own...but are stupid. The things they say vary. It's mostly just completely random stuff, at least for me. Every now and then I talk to a smart dream character who is just like a person in real life. They have their own opinions and stories to tell. I think it mostly just varies person to person and dream to dream. Dream characters come in many different forms.

Thank you for your reply Mancon. I do, also, believe that it varies depending on who you are.

Actually i am dreaming of less DC's because the characters now that appear, are smart. And i know it's either a guide or my dream guy.

That is kind of odd. Maybe you could try asking your subconscious for there to be more dream characters around, I mean, if you wanted to. Lol.

I was speaking to my best friend a DC, and he only made two comments, I said I was dreaming, he didn't believe me - I showed I could float and he accepted.

While this was happening, another DC (another friend in real life) came in and said he sees me sleeping in my bed, so how am I standing here (so had some reasoning) and I said I was dreaming, and made him in a shape of a brick and fly through windows! Then he accepted

While I looked out the window as I heard a knock at the door - there were many unrecognisable DC's who just stood there and stared at me for ages. Nothing said, still, and looking up at me!

That's an awesome dream, you really made him into a shape of a brick and made him fly through windows? That stuff is crazy.

Yeah it was weird, I looked at him and I had an urge to make him into a break to break windows, it just happened I think because my subconcious though that breaking windows needs a brick?

I watched him as he literally started folding up, legs, then hands then torso, untill he is was brick shape. Then I flung him through the windows with my hand motion going back and forth. After it, he got out of his brick shape (I don't remember him getting out of it, he was just there) and he said "ok I believe you" o.O

I've noticed that my DCs seem totally normal and realistic when I'm dreaming - I never notice anything amiss - until I do an RC and start LDing and then suddenly they seem really 2 dimensional, almost like robots on some kind of autopilot.
Really want to meet a smart DC though. Surely my brain can do better than these turkeys?!?!

Of course your brain can do better! There are seriously no limits! Just will in your dream to see a dream figure that is coherent and knowledgeable.

Stop trying to ask Dream Characters if they're clever because you'll automatically assume they're not and they won't be.

Try assuming they are clever and ask them questions that only a "real" person would be able to form and answer, for example, "Why are you here, what do you represent, what are you doing?"

Or better yet, stop speaking to Dream Characters and start asking questions directly to your dream - it can get interesting

Good ideas. As soon as I manage to have another LD I will try those out. Just the whole concept of being able to talk to a character my mind has created blows my... well... my mind!

Yeah, it really is mind blowing knowing you're speaking to dream characters who seem coherent and independent when they are really you.

You're basically talking to your unconscious self.. tapping in to information you never would have been able to access before.. Truly mind blowing and interesting stuff
