Many people say that they still feel the dream after they wake up. I really didn't have an experience like that yet, except I have had many false awakenings. So maby you weren't really awake when you still had the feeling, in that case one of those reallity checks could help, maby pinching your nose and trying to breathe through it, everytime you wake up.
About being too scared to go asleep, I know that feeling. All I can say is just fight it and try to sleep normaly. I know how frightening nightmares can be. I don't know what could trigger them, maby some stressfull recent events? I haven't had any nightmares caused by trying to lucid dream since I started, I think they might just appear randomly, lucid dreaming isn't probably the main thing that would trigger them. I really have no idea .
That's all information I can provide, I know it's mostly speculation, but don't worry others will tell you what to do, since they have more experience.
Anyway, welcome to DV!
