Hi community, just to preface my story a bit, I'm familiar with the concept of lucidity because I was intrigued by it in high school, coming to these forums often but was never able to actually attain a state of consciousness within my dreams, so I sort of just let my sleep play itself out - until today.
I was laying with straight posture on my bed, with my legs crossed so that the right foot rested atop my left ankle, my head was propped by pillows and I was reading a book. I had been playing a video game which displays the current time in game just before, and I was quite drowsy and found myself drifting in and out of a snooze.
I had to leave to go somewhere in about half an hour, so I was a bit concerned I might fall asleep and miss my departure time, so my mind was gravitating toward time - which is where the in-game clock I just mentioned comes in. I fell into sleep and my field of vision was the game I had been playing, and I glanced at the time displayed on the screen and it was rapidly ticking up at about an hour per second - then the time magnified itself for some reason and took over my entire field of vision, and it was still ticking up rapidly.
This is when I caught the glitch (forget the technical term used here) and it pulled me out into dream-consciousness. As soon as I recognized the hitch ("Time doesn't work like that") my eyes within the dream began to open and simultaneously there was a brief wrenching sound that filled my ears and vanished as soon as I was fully conscious. My first feeling was utter terror - I was freaking out, but I soon told myself I am lucid and the feeling of fright dissipated. This is the most bizarre part, my body seemed to be frozen in the position I was laying on in the bed, and only my hands I could move. As soon as I awoke in the dream, my body floated across the room by its own accord and I got the sensation on bouncing off the walls - still unable to move my feet. Everything was distorted and when I lifted my hand it was like i was viewing it through warped glass, and I tried to conjure a ball on energy in my palm but was unsuccessful, then it ended and I woke back up with a deep inhale.
It would be so kind if anyone could interpret this and answer a few of my questions:
Was I truly lucid? What was the sound I heard while my eyes were opening? Why was I partially immobilized and hover-like drifting? Why was my vision distorted?
Thank you for your time and consideration
