Wink Mancon's Guide to Staying Motivated

Staying motivated when it comes to lucid dreaming is tough, but crucial. Everyone ends up having some sort of trouble with lucid dreaming, and sometimes have the urge to give up. How can you stay motivated?

Remind Yourself Why You Want to Lucid Dream

Remember why you want to lucid dream in the first place. Do you want to go on exciting adventures? Do you want to learn more about yourself and who you are? Do you want musical/artistic inspiration? Whatever it is, lucid dreaming is definitely worth sticking with!

      Attitude is the Key

Stay positive! Remember, if you keep it up I promise that you will start to have more lucid dreams. It is definitely worth it! Be confident and remind yourself you will and can do it! Do NOT doubt yourself. Keep your head up, and it will be a lot easier!

      Different Ways to Stay Motivated

1.) Read other people's lucid experiences and their dream journals. I find that reading other people's lucid dreams gets me excited and really motivates me. One of my all time favorite dream journals to read is Puffins. She describes all of her dreams in great detail, and organizes everything very well.

2.) Reward yourself when you accomplish a goal. You can reward yourself with ice cream, clapping for yourself, sending yourself a letter, or doing anything you enjoy doing.

3.) Imagine the next time you become lucid. What will you do? How will the experience be? Just imagining my next lucid dream gets me excited.

4.) Watch dream-related movies or videos. Inception, The Science of Sleep, Vanilla Sky, Paprika, Waking Life, The Matrix, etc are all great movies.

5.) Make friends here on Dreamviews! I found that friends on this site and in IRC keep me the most motivated to lucid dream. If you don't already I recommend you get in the IRC and talk with other people here on the site! It is a lot of fun!

      Other Tips & Advice

-If you have been sticking with a technique for a long time, and you feel like it isn't working then you should consider switching up your technique. Different techniques work best for different people, you just have to experiment and find the right one for you.

-Think about all the other people on the site having trouble with lucid dreaming. You are not alone!

-Remember that everyone can lucid dream, you just have to stick with it!
