      new & having trouble.

When I'm falling asleep, instead of a dream, I just see this fuzzy darkness, and sometimes I have thoughts like I do when I'm awake, but I don't really see anything. And I hear people talking and stuff, but I don't actually go anywhere... as soon as I actually start to dream,I realize right away, and that wakes me up. I'm not sure what to do. : \

If you realize you are dreaming while in regular dream, that's a lucid dream. You wake up, because you probably get excited about it. Read some stabilization tutorials here on DV. They will help you stay in a dream longer. Also, tutorials on DILD and WILD type of dreams will explain, what is it you see as you falling asleep and everything else around the topic. Feel free to ask anything else

Sounds like you need to work on your recall first. When I first joined all my dreams were kind of fuzzy, but as I worked on recal and started to remember my dreams they got clearer. Head over to the Wiki and find the Dream Recall tutorial!

As for waking up right away, that is actually fairly normal for beginners. Next time you realize your dreaming just try to calm yourself down really fast. It will get better with time.

This was one of my first problems that I had solved rather fast, I found out that talking some calm deep breathes while rubbing your hands together or while interacting with your surroundings both actually work very well to stabilize the dream.

Ok thanks. : ) I am working on writing in my dream journal. When you say rubbing your hands (this may seem like a silly question) do you mean your real hands or your dream hands?

Your dream hands , if you look at some of the many dream stabilization tutorials they will give you more in-depth reasons as to why to do these things.
