Question Eyes starts throbbing and heart starts beating faster, what's about to happen?

The last nights I've been trying to improve my dream recall by going through what happened the whole day. As I'm trying to go through the whole story in my mind, my thoughts just stop and suddenly I'm thinking about other stuff..

And then, I will enter some kind of, I suppose some kind of middle gate to a dream?

I reach a point where it feels like I am about to enter the dream. My eyes starts throbbing, and my hearts starts beating faster. I can feel that I am getting more excited, because I believe that I'm about to enter a dream consciously, but then..

I find after some time in this stage, I will slowly loose this feeling and end up being completely aware. I've never seen any signs of a starting dream like sounds or somewhat images of what I'm about to enter, so I'm not sure what to believe this feeling is.

      So my questions are:

What is happening? Is this a result of the entering of a SP? or am I about to enter a dream?

If this really is a stage in the process of entering a dream, please explain to me several ways I can succeed this stage without ending up loosing the feeling to the point I am completely aware.

      -Thanks for reading!

Well I'll give you my personal view and that is it seems you are getting the hypnagogic imagery which leads to SP, the heart beating faster seems to be an hallucination and I get the head throbbing so I assume that may be the same as you get eyes throbbing, it's different for everyone...I'm just wondering if you get a little too apprehensive as this is happening and therefore it stops the whole process from going any further...it can take time to get past this point for some but you are quite safe and there is nothing to worry about, you can also get too excited and that will hinder you going any further...try practising some relaxation techniques and that will help a lot trust me it works a treat, hope this helps my friend I'm always here to PM if need be

Thanks a lot for the reply and help, and I believe what you described most likely is the case. After reading about hypnagogic imagery, I find it similar to my experiences. I am very certain that excitement most likely is the hinder to going any further. As I get too excited, I think I might be anxious as well, considering something I haven't tried out is about to happen, and therefor I'm afraid of screwing it up, which leads to failure, since I'm unable to relax because of that reason. If I could be able to proceed and still be relaxed, would that mean I'd enter a dream completely conscious from start, and would it be a considered a WILD? Also, would you recommend me some relaxation techniques as well?

Yes, you have to be on the verge of being asleep and awake to wild so not completely asleep but not wide awake it's a hard one to do but keep trying, I have an ap on my iPad, it's a hypnosis track and it's really good, he relaxes you then goes through the modes to relax you more, you just listen to it while you go to sleep it really is very good, it's by Glenn Harold..it's called lucid dreaming, not sure if you could maybe get it on your pc but I would recommend you check it out, it's a couple of quid to buy the app but maybe you can download it on your pc for nothing ((wink)) ) ohh and just to add I have had a couple of wilds while listening and being in the right mind set and properly relaxed.

That's almost word for word exactly what happened to me once when I tried to WILD. I wasn't successful, and I think the reason is we get so excited we kind of "wake ourselves up" out of this state. Try again, and this time try your best to relax and just let whatever is going to happen, happen, without thinking too much about it or getting too excited. Easier said than done I know, but it's worth a try.

Yup, I'd really like me to actually pass the stage and achieve the lucid dreaming part. I guess it's all about practice and not getting too excited over it when it's happening.

I don't know if it would be considered a WILD or not, but I simply go to bed around 21:00 - 23:00 and don't even plan on WILDing, and suddenly I get the feel that I'm about to enter a dream consciously.
