      Lightbulb What if....

We asked our dream guide, or a helpful entity. Or we summoned someone with a job, something along those lines. We asked him to remind us we are dreaming every time we are dreaming, like a alarm clock.

I would try this but I have never been lucid before.

I heard about this someplace else, a guy told a dream charecter to remind him he is dreaming but after that the kid never returned or told him he was dreaming. It is something i will try when i get more lucids.

That's not a bad idea. I think I would have the same problem that the guy SergeantSurreal was talking about had. Like I just wouldn't see him again, or some other kind of inconsistency.

I personally have better luck with summoning inanimate objects (such as my lucid mirror), because they are easier than summoning entire human beings. But there's no harm in trying. I think if it worked, that would be really cool. Someone you could rely on on a regular basis to help you attain lucidity. You could name him too, haha, like Lucid Steve.

I would still do my RC and DJ but it sounds good. I was thinking my dream or spirit guide to do it. Even if you are better with objects I think its much more convincing if a person you know well in your dreams said your dreaming.

hmm sounds good but a bit too inception. When I dream normaly I am in a different realality, but with the same faces. My method:
Instead of training someone in your dream, train someone in reality.
lets say I my girlfriend is called sally. I always dream about sally, so I ask her if she tells me if I'm in reality.
That I am not dreaming. If she carries on doing so, whenever I have a dream with her I may have a chance that she tells me that
      I am in a dream.

what I call SIND (sound initiated lucid dream) I developed before inception came out. Me and my friend tested out by when I have a sleep,
and I am dreaming my friend plays a snoring sound to me whist I am dreaming, and I knew I was in a dream. However, using a snoring sound
may not suit everyone as when I was younger I had lots of nightmares revolving around the sound of snoring which I taught myself over time that
hearing manic snoring (that was how it was, manic) then I was in a dream.

I was just thinking that too! I dream about my boyfriend all the time. So I wonder if I ask him on a regular basis in real life if I'm dreaming, maybe I will get a different answer if I ask him in a dream if I'm dreaming. Haha, assuming he cooperates in real life and doesn't mess with me

      This is a cool topic.

This would be so cool. A partner in your quest. Figuring out how to create this helper would probably take just as much work, and be just as difficult as figuring out how to lucid dream.

I've thought about this before - and I'm sure it can work for some people. On many occasions when I've had no awareness whatsoever that I was dreaming, I have had DC's come up to me and tell me straight out that I am dreaming. To me, this sort of shows that somewhere in my subconscious I know when I am dreaming and just don't have it transfer over to my conscious awareness.

When it happened once, I asked the DC 'How come this doesn't happen more often?'
      'What?'
'How come you don't tell me I'm dreaming more often?'
'Oh, well, you know I guess it just sorta...' - he trailed off here and then reminded me to finish the ToTM without giving me an answer.

Realistically I think it wouldn't be all that hard to train yourself/your DC's to tell you when you're dreaming

Instead of having your girlfriend/boyfriend tell you whether your dreaming or not, why not have them ask you in real life if your dreaming? Or have someone that you dream about and see in real life often ask you this. That way instead of them telling you (DCs can be sneaky sometimes) you can have them ask you and have you do an RC and check?

You guys are lucky to have such helpful characters in your dreams. The people I encounter in my non-lucid dreams are rarely interested in helping me. They are normally sources of social stress and narrative conflict.

I would be scared that this would hint at some sort of anti-social personality, but I am just the opposite. I love people and social situations when I am awake. Strange.
